I'm genuinely curious about this!

From what I have seen, most of the time the only users who purchase "Shop Support" stickers are friends of that particular creator.

So basically, aside from friends buying "Shop Support" stickers, (which I honestly don't understand because the creator could just allow their friend to link a banner to their shop on their page and if that friend really wanted the creator to get credits they could just simply transfer them directly), what is the real point of making them? Just so friends can help a creator boost their sales?

I am aware that some badge creators / holders make it known that people who buy their "Shop Support" stickers can get special "VIP Badge Treatment" whenever that creator makes exclusive badges, but then could the creator not just ask them to buy "Badge Support" stickers or just get the user to send the credits directly?

Or...

Are "Shop Support" stickers simply just a way to boost promo credit sales? (Assuming that the "Shop Support" stickers are sold at a rather low price.)

I'd love to get some opinions on this!

To be honest I think support stickers are for people who can transfer over 10,000 credits to someone else. Only creators higher than lvl 1 can send more than 10,000 credits. Things like artwork, homepages, files etc, which cost more than 10,000 credits. Stickers are an easier way to, I guess transfer credits.

Yeah, more times than none a lot of creators/artist will make support stickers for a lot of credits so that people can pay for custom work by buying them. A lot of layout and DP artists use them for such things in case people hit their credit transfer limit, and don't want to go through a Help Ticket to transfer the credits since that takes longer. Other people will have them so people can purchase them to receive the dev's badges so they can make a profit on them in order to make more badges or more items in their shop.

Those are the main times I see people selling support stickers. Or if they're holding a fundraiser for something. Aside from that, as you mentioned, people can just pick up their support banner for free and place it on their Homepage.

In my opinion, shop support stickers are probably better then asking other people for credits. And the "supporters" are able to but the sticker when they please.

Agreed.
Some of us are art maniacs or customs maniacs. The limit is awful so most of us prefer just buying support stickers than filling a help ticket or just wait...So yeah, people don't really buy them for supporting the creator, that is kinda rare. They buy them for art/badges/customs payment mostly, so in my opinion the stickers are helpful:)

It depends what you mean by shop support stickers. Some sell these as a way of getting paid, making it easier for those who reached their credit transfer limits to pay. If you mean just plain banner stickers showing support of a creator, I don't think many of those are sold, but they could make a nice gift for customers who have purchased a lot from your catalog and would like to support you.

I guess I should define my definition a bit better, haha!

Basically, what I have seen is creators making banner type stickers for people to buy.

Excluding everything else - credit transfer limits etc - I just wanted to know what the point of shop support stickers are. If someone wanted to support a creator's shop, why not just have the banner on their homepage instead of the sticker?

Usually these shop support stickers are only 300-400 credits so I was curious to see if creators sold them as a way of boosting their promo credit sales and whether or not the stickers sold enough to actually boost the sales.

I guess banner stickers are easier to move around and stuff. For banners to be embedded in the homepage coding, it might be difficult depending on how the homepage was coded or it may ruin the layout or whatever. Probably not as easy/versatile as moving a sticker about.

the process of making a banner is probably faster then making a sticker, im not to sure, but glitches and coding errors are more likely on banners the stickers. so stickers are more trustworthy i guess

Stickers cost money, so some people won't post bother supporting. Banners can mess up layouts, but not if you know the correct coding. Most people have the basic Iframe, DIV or the IMVU default panels. Banner's shouldn't really mess any of that up. It only messes it up when you fully embed your homepage and change the entire look of it.

^ I was just about to put something like that. Because the end result is that you would be still supporting the client in whatever business deal you both agreed upon; whether its because you have a credit limit, the creator is raising money for a cause or you simply just want to support them. You can use the badge or keep it hidden but your proceeds will add to their sales, thus helping their tier level. :}

I think support stickers are a great idea if the sticker is cool enough to buy, cool or cheap. Honestly I think its a bit hard to sell stickers though. An you might have to be extremely popular or have it be a kicka** sticker as I said earlier xD
