Public Rooms are rooms created by IMVU users. These rooms may be visited by anyone, and the Chat Rooms feature within the 3D client as well as the public rooms list feature on the website allow you to browse those rooms and join them so that you can socialize in 3D with new and old friends.
Creating and managing public rooms requires IMVU Client version 462.0 or higher, a fast computer with a dedicated graphics card, and a broadband connection.
Log into IMVU's 3D Chat Client (version 462.0 and above) and go to the Chat Rooms feature to start creating your public room. The "Manage" tab gives you access to creation and management of your rooms.
The room creation process will provide tips at every step of the process.
All IMVU users can create at least one public room. If you hold an Access Pass, you may still create one room unless you have been part of the AP community prior to 6/16/2011. AP account holders prior to this date will continue to have 2 rooms.
IMVU's exclusive VIP club members can create up to 10 public rooms.
Yes! This, of course, requires an Access Pass. If you have one, then it will be available to you as an option when you create a room.
If you are VIP member, you can create up to 10 rooms. If your VIP subscription is no longer active then you will no longer have access to edit/manage the last 9 rooms that you have created. Please renew your VIP membership to gain access to these rooms.
Public (Listed): The room is visible to everyone, and anyone can join. The room is searchable and appears in all relevant lists. Open (Unlisted): The room is not visible in any list and is not searchable. A Room URL is needed to join. Closed: The room is neither visible nor joinable (even by the Owner).
You must be the room's owner or a room moderator to boot someone from a room. In the IMVU Client, right-click on the avatar or click on the "i" icon for the avatar you wish to boot. From the avatar card, click on the "Safety" link and choose the Boot option from the safety menu. Booting will block that avatar from being in the room for 20 minutes.
Anyone on your IMVU blocked users list will be blocked from entering your room. To add or remove users from this list, visit this the Manage Blocked Users page.
Room moderators are optional. You will be prompted to assign room moderators to your room during the room creation step. To assign one or moderators to an existing room that you own, simply click on "Edit" and access the menu.
In the IMVU Client, right-click on the avatar or click on the "i" icon for the avatar you wish to report. From the avatar card, click on the "Safety" link and choose the appropriate option from the safety menu.
