IMVU Specific Tools

At IMVU you are required to use our Previewer tool to submit 3D content to IMVU. The Previewer is a separate application from IMVU which enables you to manipulate existing or import new product assets to create a product and submit it to the catalog. Please click the button below to download the Previewer.

Once downloaded, double click on the brick balloon icon on your desktop to install the Previewer. During the installation process, you will be prompted to supply locations for our exporters. If you are a 3DS MAX user, please choose to place the exporters in your MAX7 directory. At this time, the exporters do not work for MAX8 or higher.

The IMVU Previewer contains no spyware or spamware. It is 100% safe. Sometimes, anti-virus software confuses the Previewer and IMVU with unsafe software. Again, IMVU and the Previewer are 100% safe for your computer. If your anti-virus software mistakenly confuses the Previewer for unsafe software, please disable your anti-virus for the duration of the install. Please remember to re-enable your anti-virus immediately after the install is complete.

Supported 3rd Party Tools

2D Images - Any 2D program that supports the following file formats will work with IMVU: JPG, PNG, GIF.

Flash - You can author a flash application using any Flash development environment. If you want to attach your flash object to a 3D object you will require a suitable 3D program and the Previewer.

3D Objects - If you are creating a 3D object, IMVU currently officially supports the following applications: Version 7 of 3D StudioMax.
