I have dev'd over 50 of these players and so now not only was my time n credits lost...imvu hurt our credibility with our customers by not informing the users! For the last 5 days I've done 3 live chats and not once did they say any of this and simply tells us that they are working to resolve the issue. So the dev's lose sales cuz we all know that none of us will ever get refunds from ivmu for this..just like w mixes. I pay to dev and yet when the problem is not our fault we are the ones who lose out. Sighs..another reason imvu is losing sooooooooooooo many devs! I'm soon to be next..i refuse to keep paying n paying only to keep losing more n more functions that we once had yet the costs keeps getting higher. Really imvu...wake up!

Why are YouTube players still for sale if they don't work?

Well the youtube players might not work but the RADIO and MP3 Access still does.

or, they aren't aware of this and have yet to fix it. imvu needs to send a message out to everyone. but i'm betting they are scared to LOL cuz imagine all of the hater messages they'll be receiving. i put a few of my youtubes on 'display only' and had to change a few product pages.

Yeah...I'd imagine their "Hater Message File" is getting pretty dang thick!

I too have made a disclaimer banner and am figuring out which ones I'll be changing to display only.Sad

if the main creator of the widget/flash to youtube player has not been changed, why keep it in shop when youtube is no longer working.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.imvu.com/shop/product.php?products_id=33704877
this product is a youtube player and has not been changed by the main creator of it. even tho i should hide the product from shop, but i'm advertising Rabb.it to let others know that there is a way to sync with friends while watching youtube Very Happy even tho it won't be on imvu anymore. not sure if i can, but i am untill told otherwise Very Happy so i have this product set to "display only"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.imvu.com/shop/product.php?products_id=23452524
this one has been changed by the main creator so i just changed the product page cuz it can be used as a radio
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

don't know if this is all relevant, i'm just putting it out there Very Happy

Thank you for your explanation - and thank you for the many, many hours of enjoying your awesome product.
For many of us the music shop cant provide the music, we wants - n/a - or even not possible in some countries.
I clearly remember when IMVU deleted all the trigger music and can still be angry at all the credits - and music - I lost.
Then you put the you tube radio on - and in a few weeks we all had it - and such a joy both to play music for friends - and listen when alone. Its been my fav item ever since you put in on market.
I hope and pray that it will work again - but doubt that IMVU will make the effort.

I think it would be a good move for YouTube to require the external service for custom players to incorporate only the Ad Sponsored Videos. I am not sure if you have to be logged in to a YouTube Account to read more about the sponosred videos but there are still a ton of good videos and content to view.

My Point?

Maybe we as a community can encourage YouTube to still allow the flash to be a service to external sites as long as it benefits them and their advertisements. The videos with "Monetized Content" may be allowed if enough people ask for it. Or simply each video could be tagged to display on of the adverts. of some kind. It is only another way for them to internally pay for the the service and continue it. It may be a good trade off without loosing the YouTube players all together.

I agree, it seems IMVU is forcing us to buy music again, which by the way has also been abused by removing songs and not reimbursing us for the full value.

Why do we put u with this abuse by IMVU?

The player that has replaced the you tube players, does not work either. If I was those developers of the you tube players. I would demand that IMVU at least replace it with something that works. Or demand my credits back for loss of income.

Please can we have a decent working player to replace You tube players, or is that too much to ask for?

Does anybody know of any programme that will sync you tube externally with players?

Thumbs down to IMVU, as usual we are at your mercy with your bungling.

This is a good idea Lestat and you got my vote, but i'm afraid YouTube's choice has nothing to do about marketing, they are dropping Flash in favour of HTML5 for safety reasons Sad (I am sure you are aware of what i mean).

What exactly is not working in alternative players?
YouTube will not work anywhere until YouTube service team change their minds about allowing to stream in external custom players made in Flash technology that is only way supported on IMVU.
YouTube panel is still there in case that something will change in future (and then original players will back anyway) but displays warning that YouTube may not work on IMVU.
Radio and MP3 streaming from dropbox are synchronized and already tested with some users.
If this is not working for you, then be sure that you and other users cleared your cache to get fresh update, SYNC is turned ON (it is ON by default), and you read updated product pages.
If you still have a problem, then feel free to send me a message on IMVU.

Alternative players are not a solution.
They are just alternative in current situation for users who still want to play own music together with friends.
I am open for suggestions, and if something is possible to add, extend, or fix, then there is a chance that it will be done in future updates (as some of you may remember, previous players were keep in updates).
If something except YouTube is not working like it should, then I am interested in messages about it, I will take a look at it, and probably test it out with a user personally on IMVU, as long as enough time will let me do it.

it won't let me post anything on it, but i voted. this should be imvu's fight to keep our youtube experiences on imvu, not ours. but i did click the vote button.

the thought that is running thru my head the reason why youtube stopped the services......... is it because the view counts? views counts may not be counted for when imvu uses the youtube players on here and you know how it's important for those youtubers to get view counts =rolls eyes= i think a million views means, a paycheck? or maybe it's an unfair counts if it is taking counts from imvu. then that brings another thought of unfair counts. sharing the videos to homepages and product pages that they might stop too. i don't know. i'm guessing imvu didn't want to continue the service of youtube. they could fight for us. or maybe imvu don't care about us anymore and wants to get rid of us. reason why we have not heard anything from imvu about the services of YouTube ending

@Realitalianman
@SpeedStar84

Thank you both so much for all the input. Special thanks for SpeedStar84 going the extra mile to explain and stand by the fully working product while pointing out it is YouTube that has caused this. All stated is confirmed for those in question. It is YouTube that made the change to block the external players :/

I remember when some of the Flash Radio "stations" or (Channels) changed format and many were hanging with no support for the dead (still dead) players.

It is sad to see YouTube causing this issue
with their decision to remove the external player support. I am thankful they are still supporting the Embed function.

My above post is merely grasping at straws while we all fall off the cliff of 'dead YouTube players :( If others feel they can add to the voice there in that posting, maybe by some tiny miracle, Youtube will still allow them to work with ad supported. I said Advertised Supported and an enticement for YouTube to continue a possible money maker for them.

We won't know unless we ask.

Ps>
Any super coder(s) available that can make an HTML5/6 compatible in=-client player? :D Now is the time to jump on-board and make a ton of credits!!!! :D

I made video tutorial for alternative player about MP3 from dropbox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OV5ixXpmLfA
Note that I was not able to record sound from IMVU with my recording software, so there is no sound in the video.
Note also that player is just software like media players for phone or Windows (for example Winamp) and user is responsible for music he or she is playing with it.
You can play your own music creations or a lot of free underground music that uses Creative Commons or Public Domain licences and are often shared by their original artists on soundcloud and other services, but playing commercial music without proper DJ license or other rights is illegal.

I think a lot of websites are getting away from flash players now as someone else said & anyone blaming you speedstar84 for this is wrong...

This sounds like it's completely YouTube's decision, (I don't think IMVU can be blamed for this one) & I think money may have a little something to do with it, but moreso, I think it's that websites are starting to drop flash altogether because of the security issues as mentioned, (I know personally I've been getting more & more errors everyday on websites still relying on flash)...

Thank you for letting people know & trying to figure out if it can be fixed or not, I'm betting it can't be fixed without creating the newer HTML5? =^.^=

As about HTML5.
It is not supported by IMVU and I believe it will not in the future.
In practice, HTML5 can bring much more problems than Flash, but instead of security, this can bring a lot of compatibility problems.
To make advanced player in HTML5, JavaScript is required.
I made a lot of things in JavaScript since late 90s, and everyone who worked with more advanced websites than just pure HTML, can tell you that it was always a pain and still is to be compatible with all popular browsers and their updates.
Not only Internet Explorer is a pain, but also FireFox and Chrome too.
They change JavaScript often and make things not compatible.
I worked last time with some HTML5 games, and I must say it was same problem like in past years to make everything working correctly on everthing and be prepared for browser updates that made errors.
One example is sound that worked totally different on different browsers 1 year ago, not sure how it is now, and later Chrome changed JavaScript sound, and a lot of online apps stopped working correctly (for example online emulators of old computers and games).
Another example is canvas where Chrome removed some graphic filter effects (for example pixel art style to not make blurred image after resize) that were used again in some online emulators and games.
