Honestly, I blame IMVU for at least part of that behavior. When new users sign up and have their little task list to get their predits, one of the tasks is "Get Someone to Gift You." So right out of the gate they are setting up that begging culture for future annoyances down the road. IMVU makes that kind of behavior seem acceptable within the community by simply having that task.

I try not to be too mean about it if I'm asked in a room, but I won't respond to a message asking for gifts or to "borrow" credits. I often block them, too.

To make it relevant as a creator issue for the thread, though, I do find that creators are targeted more often for this behavior, and hit up for higher amounts than the rest of the civvies. I tend to get the weird "Will you be my mommy?" messages, too. Sorry, but my kids have four paws, fur, and aren't digtal pixels.

Oh my god I always get those Mom messages haha! I don't really know how to respond. I think they just assume if you play happy family with them then as the "mom" you're expected to gift your "child".

Our group's policy is fairly simple.
We have a no begging policy in our rooms.
We give a warning that they had violated that policy.
If they continue, they are booted from the room and blocked.
We all agree that one warning is enough for most people to get the message.
I have seen some pretty creative ways to get gifts. We think people appreciate what they have more if they work for it and come by it honestly.

If they want stuff they can make it as we do and sell it to others, lol

I do get a lot asking for stuff from my shop. Usually they come in and try to flatter me a bit by saying how much they love the items in my shop and they like something especially well....sometimes it is strong hints at a gift, other times they end up asking for it.

I find those harder to deal with in a way because I do feel a little moment of joy..but then it feels hollow when it was just trying to butter me up for gifts.

Some of them try to make me guilty after too, some do not seem to think the gifts cost me too Razz

Depends on my mood tbh and if I have credits, I see it as a marketing aid if they wear my products around their friends.

Depends on my mood and the person asking. I rarely actually get someone asking for one of my products specifically, I either get the general "Can you gift me?" or "I really like your products!". But when I do get a specific request for me to gift them something from my catalog, I sometimes gift them if they are someone I know or that already bought a bunch of my stuff or I tell them that they can actually get a free gift from me if they request a brand new product from me. Unless they are just demanding and rude to me which does happen sometimes.

I've actually ever really had one very negative experience with someone that begged me for stuff, they got very angry when I didn't want to make them free products and a free icon design and a free homepage. I've also had some people come beg for more after giveaways, which I've always turned down but never actually had to fight about unlike with that one fellow.

This has happened to me more than once.
I get a pm from someone saying how much they like my catty and sends an f/r to me. I checked to find they never bought or were gifted anything from my catty.

What's worse, I go into a room where they are and they don't even act like they know you. Lol..

1. I tell them no, to try purchasing credits or doing peer review/offers to earn predits. (Is that what we call them now days? I've been gone for a year or so.)

2. I don't send gifts when asked, I send them on my own free will.

Depends on HOW they approach me. If they are polite, then theres good chance i will gift...but if they are rude or just say "since ur a creator, gift me" they will get ignored. If they are stupid enough to take it farther...then im not responsible for my actions once my B switch is flipped to the on position.
I dont mind helping new accounts out or someone down on their luck because we have all been there...respect doesnt cost anyone a dime but you pay more than you can afford with disrespect.
