Hey there, I'm trying to make a new skin but I'm wondering which texture size is the best?? Should I go for a 512 x 256, 256 x 512, or just stick with the 256 square??

If you want maximum detail in the face then use 512x256 for the head and 256x512 for the body.

If you are interested in creating skins you might find a few things on this page useful. everything from downloadable templates to explanations of where things are to static posed body models to get a close look at hard to see places.

You can also find more good stuff Here!

Skins are a tough thing to do well so good luck and stop back often when you have questions!

Skins are by far the most difficult thing I have created and I am still devolping new templates to this day. However, the typical size is around 516x 256 for the face and 256 x 512 for the body.

I tried earlier to create a 256x512 template today and it got really confusing lol 512x256 is still bearable to work with though thankfully Razz

I like keeping the face template "long" for the added nose detail...but for things like freckles or face tattoos making it "tall" seems to distort them less and give you plenty of room for detail.

I use 512x512 for the face and 256x512 for the body. I heard of someone using 512x512 for the body, but I would hesitate changing the size ratio for skin templates

Actually it does matter. Rolling Eyes

IMVU will shrink 512x512 to 256x256 badly. If you use 512x256 for the head you will get twice the quality.
