While using the client,
the default color is this near-white color while everyone else in the room has a color assigned on entry. yes?
would it be a far stretch to have a color assigned to us too?
To be clear: I'm talking about just the username in the chat x-x

.::Agreed on the Opt-out setting::. We have the ability to opt-out of the shop recommendations, why not this too?
Could it be an option in Settings to choose one's color in the chat rooms, maybe? ~(owo~)
no one else sees the default white but us,
they could give us a setting to change THAT white,
that only shows up on our own client,
to a choice of colors?

(similar to how we can
change our dressing room color from a list
that doesn't effect anyone else's dressing room.)

Everyone else would still see us as whatever color we loaded
in their chat, on their client~

i also would like to use the "/me" feature and see a color.

ᵉᵛᵉ ᶦᶠ ᶦᵗ'ˢ ʲᵘˢᵗ ᵃʸ ᶜᵒˡᵒʳ ᵇᵘᵗ ʷʰᶦᵗᵉ ˣ⁻ˣ

Here's an example of a long post that the default color gets lost in:

I can't see my name (at a quick glance) when it's between posts like this..
how am i supposed to reference something i said or did
if i have no idea where to look for it in the chat log
without taking the time to re-read everything until i find it?

Having the option to change your own personal color,

(or just changing the default color)
would have zero effect on how someone sees you,
or how you see anyone else in the chat.
And having one of the color options
actually be the color we have now:
you don't have to change it if you don't want to.

Linking the color you select in dress up background to your id tag color in rooms isn't a half bad idea . .

Unfortunately anything we suggest will cost money and there isn't enough profit being made to justify this idea because from what the forum users tell me things like this will make imvu go bankrupt.lol!

Seriousilly I like your idea but just putting it in perspective before someone else does it in a less humorous manner,.Oh I like the rainbow of colors idea too that would be good suggestion as the whole gay lesbian thingy seems very popular amongst the imvu staff forum posts so maybe they will love that and implement it, that is considering there are more of those lbgt posts than even topics about Christmas or Halloween...

PS Santa nor the Russians didn't tell me to say any of that or send me here I thought of it all by my lonesome.>

I think it is long over due and I am happy to see someone from the actual imvu community taking an interest in how the client is developed. The forums are the best place to learn what we, as a community, actually care about.

I can't tell you how many times I have had a friend ask what color they were so they could change it to the one they wanted by leaving the chat repeatedly until the correct one was chosen. If they are willing to do such a strange ritual, I feel they would love to be able to change it in the settings, a color for every chat. Maybe a random color option or a no color option as well, that would give them the default white.

I wouldnt mind but

1. give it an opt out for users that dont want it
2. make it local not universal, meaning only you see your color and everyone else still sees you as whatever color you load in the room as.

i say the 2nd because then chat would be too confusing if everyone was choosing the same color. the whole point of it was to make chat flow smoother so you can tell who is who in the log just by color in most cases. I dont wanna load into a room with my choosen color and have someone boot me for reusing to change to the color they wanted me to be or see a room were everyone is the same color

Would that be no different than changing the white-ish
we already have, that no one else sees..
to a more flattering color,
of perhaps our choice,
and having one of those choices:
be the default color it is now? o:

Seems rather pointless to me. I want all the different colors possible in chat so as to better be able to follow each person. Having, say, 8 people in a room, and 3 of them are 'red' would really be confusing and difficult. It's good. No change please...

A bit confusing here but the purpose of this suggestion is for the individual user moreso than to be able to set everyone - each and every users color , correct ?

As i see it each individual users as in the other chat users settings would not be affected by it . .

The only thing it would change would be the user who set it to see their own personal choice of color . It wouldn't change how you see any name but only the user who set their name would have that color , so if everyone set thier color to red you and all else would still be seeing the random color generated as always is . Otherwise consider how many times as people come and go in rooms you'd have to be constantly going to that setting to set their colors .

That's even more pointless. Right now we all see ourselves as a unique white. Others don't see that. Why would I select a color that someone else might have - just to make it more difficult for myself???

It's mostly for aesthetic and personal preference. Again with my #1, give it an opt out for those that dont want to use it they can stay as white. I'm neutral as i can take it or leave it but i wouldnt be against it they added the feature.

I think the reason they have us as a default white and everyone else in color is so that we are better able to distinguish our contributions to the chat from everyone else. For instance say you wanted to see if a post you made actually registered. Or if you had crashed.
Personally I do not need or want a different color.

How can what you write be difficult to realize that you writ it and separate that from what others write?

Why on earth would you even have to see your own name to know it is you ?
Even if your name is all wrapped up around other names all being the same color which is a rare thing to happen you should see the ben part and know that is you not someone else..

That would be like tying a string to your finger so you don't forget to breath or getting a tattoo with your own initials so you don't forget who you are.

If you cant pick your own name out thus separating it from other names . . How would you forget your own name even if it is in a different color or that would make it more confusing to be able to pick your own color? After all as you writ I don't know why you would select a color that someone else has if you can change it to any color? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Examply -

O k you go in to imvu and select your favorite color lets say red --
You then enter a room and someone you are standing next to also has been given by random red.
You would then easily be able to select a different color like white or whatever..Thus making that problem a non-issue because you wouldn't ever select the same color as someone else or would be able to change it on the fly if that is a problem.

Now if so the piled up names on the name bar is confusing you why not just ctrl+b to close that and use the message chat box down below so that each is on its own line? That is why they give you those multiple options because it eliminates that issue.

Also if you take a moment to think outside this box... Say they did implement a new select your own color.. I would guess they'd add to that where you weren't limited to so few choices and have an actual color wheel with thousands of choices thus virtually eliminating any chance you'd select the same color/shade as anyone else to begin with.

Last to keep in mind , if you are only able to change your color and what you see . . It would prevent you from seeing everyone who selected red because you would see a random different color and not everyone red . . If we all were forced to see the colors everyone picks then you'd have a higher chance of everyone picking the same popular colors.Your solution would create more frequent problem of what you want to eliminate.Whereas if only can change your own color the others would be random and not everyone red.Now if we are given the choice to change everyones color that just sounds like a task not many would be interested in performing every time they enter a new room or someone enters a room they are in.The simple fix to that is for imvu to add a few more colors so that the random color generator would never have two of the same.Much easier a fix than otherwise.

Of course you would recognize your own name - after you HAD to go looking for it.

As long as I don't have to see your colour changes, I don't care. However, if everyone could see the colour change, NO.

All I have to do is look at the part of Zilevos posts which are small and light orange, to know I do not want this feature, if everyone can see the colour change.
