Bleh. The closest thing I could find to "halftone" was something called "newsprint" (Filters > Distorts > Newprint). But that really wasn't real close enough either. I fiddled around with the settings to get something *kinda* close. And the closest I could find to "grain" was "noise." So I tried that. Anyway, the result I got was pretty awful. Razz

Maybe someone else can play around with it in Gimp and get something better than I did?

Have you seen this tutorial for denim using Gimp? http://www.gimpdome.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=28fcec6f89f277d338755cf3370c68d6&topic=4637.0
(and the scanline pattern mentioned in the tutorial can be found here http://fence-post.deviantart.com/art/Scanline-Pattern-39512748)

hmmm i can have a mess around and find a similar step by step to the one above but for GIMP if you like maybe useful for those who dont get on with the other one, though it will be a basic one guys

EDIT:

Ok ive been messing for a bit and have come up with this:

hmm looks kinda like jean material, but its the best i can get. If you want to know how i did it then let us know. I'll be watching the thread so just post on here if u do

HauntingKitten, I think it looks great. and that it is **waaayyy** better than what I came up with when trying to do something like this with Gimp. In fact, that looks almost like the texture on a real pair of jeans I have.

I think I'd like to know what you did...if you don't mind posting it.
