Having bad reviews happens, have had it happen to me, I have fixed the issues and notified the person.

But the biggest amount of complaints on 'broken' or 'changed' items on here are by texturers.....so the same rules should apply to them as they do to meshers......

First, I don't think this rule SHOULD apply to meshers.

Second, if a texturer changes a product then it only affects that texturer and his/her customers. If a mesher changes a product, it affects every deriver and all of their customers. Hugely different impact.

And, IMVU didn't make this change due to customer complaints...they made it because one mesher managed to break a large percentage of rooms in the catty. IMVU decided that they didn't want to get caught with their pants down like that again...so, in true IMVU fashion, they took away mesher's rights/options instead of fixing the loophole that was exploited. And I still don't agree with it.

Edited to add: And it wasn't ABOUT the review...it was about the damage that would have been done to my customers if I hadn't been able to fix it. But a mesher's main customers are other creators...who should know, and understand, how the process works much better than the average texturer's customer.

Again I get it and agree. But the damage has been done. But also stuff should never have been able to be changed (IMVU's fault for allowing it to happen for so many years) once a product was derived or sold unless there was an issue. We have had it good thanks to the laziness of IMVU until the incident happened....

I don't think it was laziness...I think it was due to the level of control and the safe harbor provision of the DMCA.

Also, I read the TOS, etc. when I signed up to IMVU. I read where it clearly states that the catty has third-party content and that the customer is only buying a license, not a product. I read all of that before I agreed to it. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask other users to read the TOS before they, too, agree to it...and then abide by what they have agreed to.

Or, alternatively, IMVU can come up with a new drastic change refund provision...beats the hell out of taking away the tools I need and use because of the bad actions of others.

The question that does not want to be silent is: How long will we continue to be treated as garbage on this issue?

It has been more than 5 months since IMVU decided to tighten the shackles of its creative slaves submitting us even more and, although we gave our opinion and some alternatives that at least lessened the impact this had on the meshers (as requested By Varsha at the time), nothing has changed and from what I see nothing will change.

Is not it time for Segalian to come forward? Or will they keep pretending that everything is great for everyone?

This is good news to hear that IMVU is giving us the option to get approval to derive certain products. Thanks crew!!!

That is not what this thread/policy is at all.

If you leave your product derivable, and someone (even if it's you) derives from it, then you are no longer allowed to change the product...now you have to go to Customer Service begging permission to do so (and they might not give you permission).

What's the current time for IMVU to unlock them? And is there a limit on how many times you can do that? Is there a penalty if you request too many changes? And if not what would be reasonable?

I haven't had to have anything opened yet, I test before submitting as derivable but I do understand mistakes can happen.

2-3 business days seems to be about right for the time to unlock in my experience. Drives me nuts I needed to open a ticket to change something simple like the Display Only setting or keywords.

As far as testing the mesh, I have been uploading mine hidden initially so i can ensure a derive will work properly...and not just that it seems ok in Create when I submit. If anything is weird with my own derive, I don't submit it and go back and fix the base product.

I do not believe there is any kind of limit, nor penalty. It's a pain in the butt enough as is...we don't need more restrictions.

If you're VIP, instantly. Ticket wise, I've only had to wait a couple days tops.

1 Edit. Then you're never allowed to edit again.

You can edit again, but you'd need to submit another request.

I support IMVU having to approve the edits - but you failed me.

YOUR process failed IMVU.

You allowed a mesh to be changed that shouldn't have been allowed.

Now tell me how this benefits us all.

This change needs to be reverted. IMVU cannot make exceptions for one and make everyone else toe the line.

But then its IMVU, the rules only apply to some of us.
