So reading IMVU's page on copyright and all that was hella confusing. Am i to understand that stickers containing other artists artwork is fine to post?
Devlopers and Artists out there how do you feel about this?
Personally I only use artwork of my own but I've seen tons of stuff from artists like Luis Royo being sold as stickers. Isn't this just as bad as the people who used to steal others peoples textures? |

| I agree...but if IMVU were to crack down on all the copyright infringement on this site (sticker or otherwise), probably a tenth of the products in the catalog would disappear. All the POTC stuff, the anime stuff, the stickers of Disney characters and rock artists...my goodness, what a revolution that would be! Right now, I just wonder how far Devs are allowed to go. I've seen some pretty blatant copyright issues already and I've only been on here a week. The question is, is this a problem or not? I'm of the opinion that devs shouldn't sell any products that have copyrights because it's against the law to recieve compensation for using the copyrighted images without permission from the true owner. |

I'm a 100% against art thief, one of imvu biggest problem and no, technicly, you are not allowed to do it and it a mod finelly bothers to check the flagged product, the said art thief's account will be deleted and the person banned, either for 2 weeks or so or more depending on the gravity of their offence (like having one googled image, or having an intire store of stolen works)
I wish mods would accually get strick about it all, it'd force people to be creative, and give imvu a better market, I meen if you really want a mcdonal scenary, just invert the M and call it wacdonald and everything fine, plus it's funny _________________

No, it's illegal and not to mention against all ethics and morals... It's not OK on IMVU or anywhere else. _________________ Mandarin Rose |

its completely wrong
@lemon: wacdonalds...lol that could replace the buckstar scene or a barns and nobel scene featuring a farm loaded with scientific figures
but what about pictures of famous people like out of historical documents?....i wasnt doing anything like that but wouldnt that fit under some form of copywright?
and in my opinion, when a dev submits artwork for profit i think it should go over a review by a staff member before it gets put out...it saves the trouble of having to fish through the catalog and big companies would have nothing to complain about _________________ \"I\'ve screamed for all the women I\'ve never been but hoped I would be.\"-Otep Shamaya |

As to historical document, just look into the copyright on those. Some old documents are not copyrighted. Actually, there's no copyright on Shakespeare either... _________________

Yeah, but having someone inspect each and every single product from every single dev, every single day would take a lot of time and effort that I don't think IMVU is ready to invest. _________________

the only difference is that you product would take up to two or 3 days to be accepted. Yes it's effort, but it would be worth it, it would bring up the product's qualety, variety and creativity. OF course some stolen and copyrighted things might go trough, but imvu could easely wash it off their hands by saying that they try to filter all that is possible and that if anything goes trough, it shall be taken down as quickly as possible after it'S flagged,
hell, I'd even do it for free if they gave me the possibilety to take off things from the catalog and told me what is eligible for banning or suspension and what isn't.
A big massive clean up of the catalog would remind people that all the stuff they have should be their own creatoin only. _________________

if only it were that simple lol
I tryed flagging and giving the artist's name, web site and all the things that go with it but they never did a thing about it, even if the people has a whole gallery stolen from the artist and make into stickers, and some I repported month ago. I just wish I could do it direcly, since it's not very hard to gess who stolen the art and who didn't with all the art being stolen from such well knowned artist. as for clothing with brands..well it easy to see to. _________________

I don't feelthat bad about people accually drawing fanart, what I feel is unfair is that some just resize image and make money on a hardworking artist while the others have to use their brains and talent to come up with something catchy. _________________

but unfortunetly most of the people who are doing such a thing are just in it for credits they just find things that they know others like and slap it on IMVU for the sales _________________ Anyone who sees this, youa re digging way into the past of the IMVU forums, and can someone explain why it\'s still a BETA after so many years? |
