I don't know maybe its me, but I have notice this year I've seen only 1 LGBT Pride photo in recommendation feed. I'm not speaking of any of my photos that I've taken for pride celebration, but any pride photos. I would think being its LGBT Pride Celebration month that more photos will be shown especially now when its so needed. Makes me feel like we are trying to be push back into the closet, swept under the carpet or hush up like its dirty. I can say I speak for our community that its our time to shine where is the pride pictures in recommendation? Come on my brothers and sisters let's shine!

Staff let us shine by showing more photos LGBT Photos in recommendation.

Before anyone bashes my post... I put no one down, nor made any negative statements. I just want equal time in having a special month celebrating being proud of being straight!

The answer I have for you is a very simple one:

You do not need one.

Straight people have never been attacked or fired for merely being straight. You do not have to worry about holding your partner's hand in public. Vacation plans do have to be made by taking into account which country not to travel to for fear of being imprisoned because of your sexuality. Additionally, straight people have never had the uncomfortable experience of having to come out to their family and friends. And this list goes on and on and on simply because of your sexuality and nothing else.

So, without you having all of those experiences, I have no sympathy for you. I am proud of you for being straight, but you do not get a parade.

You see, Gay Pride is not about sex, as so many people assume. It is about celebrating who we are.

Just as there are parades and events for Hispanic Heritage Month, Asian Heritage Month, Black History Month, etc., we have a parade for celebrating the fact that we are gay. It is a celebration of the fact that we are making it okay to be gay. It is finally becoming something one does not have to be ashamed of, and this is largely do to the gay rights movement, including Pride celebrations.

Now, do not get me wrong, do not be ashamed you are straight. You should be happy with your sexuality; however, just as white people will never truly understand white-privilege, straight people will never truly understand heterosexual-privilege.

So with all due respect, when you ask "Why don't we have a straight pride month", you sound as ignorant as the people that wonder why there is a Black History Month. Every other month of the year is straight pride month.

Lastly, if gay pride month really truly bothers you (and I know it does some of you), just don't participate in it. Avoid Boystown, or whatever gayborhood is in your area, and do your own thing. Hell, invite all your other straight people over to your house for a random game of Yahtzee, or whatever game you straight people are playing these days.

Regardless though, Happy Pride Month!

My sentiments exactly! Well said!!

We lost our head cheerleader for this year, KatieMarie

Pride is quiet this year because of that, reality is IMVU is just like any town government, LGBT+ community, want to celebrate here, then we need to get in and get IMVU involved early on. If you want to blame anyone.. blame me.
Lets just make sure it doesn't happen again, start asking what's happening next April not June.

Maybe set up like a Pride Month Group and throw around some ideas and planning, part of that being to poke staff.

I agree, we as the LGBT Community can blame ourselves as well. However if a company or community is going to celebrate Pride Month do it right! Its still no excuse why not adding Pride Photos to recommendation Feed to show pride. Its hypocritical! you for us or not.

I tried to add the picture in but it didnt work so heres the link.

I came out as bisexual to my friends when i was around 13 or 14, and my class somehow found out but everyone was okay with it. I haven't told my family but I think they suspect im not straight so its all good.
I don't really have much of a story but I am questioning my gender rn, so maybe i'll have a story to tell one day.
My prayers go to orlando and those affected, and all other LGBT+ members ❤︎

~ ORLANDO ~ Prayers for all of the families of the innocent people shot dead, who decided to go out one night to enjoy themselves. This one man who was more than unwell mentally, filled with rage and such hated for one group of people in the Community, decides it is his right to go and kill as many as he can! I can not comprehend how someone can hate to this extent. I am not overly religious, but I do know this is not what God wants. This World Needs MORE LOVE, not hate.
Thank You for sharing the profile frame to use Aegenia, I like it very much!
I share with you a series I just made in honour of all shot in Orlando. The top I am wearing is from 2015, I still like this one, that is why I am wearing it.
LOVE & PEACE ALWAYS,
Cel. XO

This is in support of my best friend. The tragedy in Orlando hit her hard and made her question her own safety. True friendship crosses race, religion,sexuality...there are no boundaries.

There has been a straight pride before. They tried it last year and nobody seemed to care and barely any people showed up. And as for discrimination, there has never been a person who was bashed for being straight nor has there ever been one hate crime towards someone for just being straight. The LGBTQA community struggles with these issues everyday of our lives. That's why we have this. To show that we're not ashamed nor should be of who we are and that we want to be treated equally like straight people. After all, we were the ones who had to fight for gay marriage, not straight people. I'm just saying that when you look at it, straight people have more privileges than the rest of us.

It deeply saddens me that so many people killed on one day while enjoying themselves. Nowadays it seems like mass shootings like the new fad. It seems like it's normal for there to be such an influx in the shootings. This is proof to me that America is really coming to an end. Strengthening gun laws isn't going to do anything, in my opinion. So many innocent lives lost by gun violence. This happens in Chicago too. Just the day before yesterday there were over 24 people shot in just one day. This needs to come to an end. Chicago supports Orlando.

Edit: He didn't kill because he was homophobic. It was a matter of radial Islamism.

Actually it was because he was bisexual and he couldn't get what he wanted. He was creepy and too forward with people and when he got rejected, it pissed him off. He was even on gay apps to find gay men and would show pictures of his.....Well, lets say the organ that make him look like a male. Even his ex-wife took him to gay bars at his request. It had nothing to do with his religion, that was just a cover for who he really was on the account that he couldn't have what he wanted. He felt like if he couldn't have then other people should, which is wrong. Everyone deserves to be with whomever they choose. Plus he had mental issues ever since he was in the 3rd grade and no one got him help. But I digress. However, I do agree with you that the hate needs to stop and it has to start with some people excepting who they are as an individual in society. It's sad that we have so many people in our community that do crimes like the one that happened at Club Pulse and people who commit suicide because of the shame and fear that they have of being a member of the LGBT+ community. Which why it is so important for us to have people and places we can go for help or someone to talk to. That's the second thing. Thirdly, we need to stop bring religion in it. I'll explain. If you remember there was a transgender teen named Leah Acorn. Her parents didn't understand who she was. They sent her to counseling at they're church and it made her feel even worse as a person because the pastor would tell her thing like how selfish she was and what she was saying was wrong. This poor girl who lived in my city of Cincinnati, killed herself because of it. It is so important that we all have someone or a group that we can talk to about this. I know what it's like for people to look at you differently as a kid, especially when you're a teen. I didn't fully except myself until adulthood. When I did that, the shame went away. We in this community shouldn't have to go through what the of Orlando had to go through. Enough is enough. Love is love. I'm sure if we all can banned together and help others in the community that are struggling and get out information to others so they know the effects when stuff like this happens, I believe we can make anywhere a safe place for us to thrive without the stigma attached to it.
