version of 3ds max: 2016 64 bit
trying to export: .xaf file

I installed the files correctly from the education center to be able to export .xaf, .xsf, .xmf (ect) files, and it said in the file folder that the plugin was for the 64 bit version of 3ds max 2016, but when I try to export .xaf files, 3ds max crashes. I can export .xmf and .xsf files just fine.

Can anyone tell me what's going on here and how I can fix the problem?

Edit again: I tried downloading a 3rd party cal3d exporter, but it didn't work in the end. So can anyone tell me how to stop the crashes from the imvu exporter?

Mine crashes only when I SELECT certain bones to export. Like I want to only select the hand and fingers. If I select the entire skeleton, mine doesn't crash.

What skeleton file are you using to export your animation?

If you have your own skeleton file, you may have exported it incorrectly.

If you exported it correctly, are you making sure to reference it when exporting your .xaf

What options are you choosing on the screens when exporting your .xaf ? On the second screen, you should just hit next and not check/uncheck any of the boxes.

My max 2013 crashes when I export xaf furniture file ,I select my root then export my xsf files then I select nothing when I export my antimation furniture file then my XSF files show I put a check by my antimation file, then I click next its starts exporting my antimation file then crashes max at the very end of the export. I wished these exporters could be fixed. I really don't want to downgrade my max if I don't have too, or does any body else have this problem. Please message me if anybody had this problem and now has it fixed if if You have any ideas to help me resolve this problem. My max exporters work fine with xsf, xpf , and xmf. Ps works fine when I do avatar antimations as well just crashes when I make furniture antimations such as moving wheels on a car or an elevator that moves up and down. Help, Please

In my experience it helps to leave the root node of your skeleton selected when exporting your xaf animation files. I don't know if that's causing your issue or not but worth trying.

As for why it's crashing... that definitely shouldn't be happening. Razz To help diagnose it would be helpful to see some screenshots - maybe one of your mesh, selected, and showing the modifier stack. If you can squeeze in the weights as well (either in the modifier panel or from a manual weighting popup) that would help. And another screenshot showing your objects - mostly looking to see the hierarchy of the skeleton.

Of course, seeing the max file or the exported xsf skeleton file would help, too.
