Recently we have encountered situations that has prompted us to remind everyone about what is and is not okay as per our Terms of Service and Creator Agreement & Creator Policy.

1) Selling of IMVU accounts is not allowed

Quote:
You may not sell, transfer, give, or otherwise surrender your account or account password to another party.

Selling of your IMVU account is strictly prohibited as per our policies. If we discover such intent via pulse posts, messages sent on IMVU, we will take action.

Additionally, we have encountered some non-IMVU sites where such activity is taking place. We monitor such sites as well and take action as necessary.

2) Setting up bot/scripted accounts is not allowed

Setting up hundreds of scripted/bot type accounts in order to exploit our features such as Photo Stream rewards, Daily Login Rewards, Catalog ranking (applicable to Creators engaged in such activity) is prohibited.

Quote:
Alter or interfere with IMVU's site, Products or operations by employment of 3rd party scripts, code, bots, etc.

Quote:
Only bona fide, third party sales of virtual items from the IMVU catalog are eligible to earn money for the account of a creator.

When we discover such activity, we take action against the bot accounts as well as the main account.

This topic is meant to be informational and is not a discussion about our policies or a place to raise questions about policies in general. Legal discussions, user punishments, product re-ratings are also not to be discussed in these forums.

Thank you

Varsha, just a quick question in re the scripts/bots.

Sometimes somebody typos...enters the wrong PID...and an innocent creator winds up geting hordes of their item bought with predits by a mass army of new accounts.

In such cases, are the innocent creators required, or even just urged, to file a help ticket to report the incident(s) to CS?

Or, does IMVU know if and when the targeted creator was involved and if and when they weren't?

Edited to add that I apologize if this falls into the area of discussion that you said was verboten. As this was not questioning the policy itself, I thought it was ok to ask. (The issue was just raised in the forums again recently, and I just wanted to make sure that I was clear on IMVU policy.) Again, I apologize if I thought wrong. Thanks.

Good to hear IMVU is getting tougher and actually starting to enforce it's ToS in those areas.

It's just a shame it went on so long unchecked.

We can easily tell if this sort of behavior is intentional or accidental so legit creators do not have to worry!

Feel free to reach out to me or CS though if you do note such activity on your products - not because it will affect you negatively but simply to help us weed out such accounts.

Some Creators do message me about such situations and I do take action.

Thanks

I did a people search and found dozens of people with tag lines and interest panels that say "selling this account" yet when I report nothing is done.

Can CS agents act on the flags or do they have to wait for the OK of someone higher up?

They do act on these. Are you flagging it with Interests or Tagline as the option. If you flag any again and do not see action, feel free to message me.

I have a question in regards to this:

Quote:
Alter or interfere with IMVU's site, Products or operations by employment of 3rd party scripts, code, bots, etc.

So is it not allowed to use things like AdBlock to stop seeing the adverts?

So my question to imvu administration what If I sent credits to my dear friends then their decision to buy my products ? will that count as "bot/scripted accounts" ?

Well someone well known who was doing this just got disabled for gaming so I wouldn't do it too much or too often if I were you.

What if it got disable before this update as I'd describe quote on quote "it wasn't bot nor scripts" will it be a false statement from imvu itself?
will the account be re-active for one more chance since the statement is ultra false?

I'd describe the condition of false detection that Triple A titles failed to detect and banned innocent people.

If In gaming Triple A games failed to detect bots and scripts and shoved banned on innocent people, you guys believe imvu can handle it?

my bet guess is no, because imvu just permanent banned a friend of mine for false claim and I can approve that it's a false claim and I even included in my ticket.

Triple A titles earn more then imvu and they can't handle bots nor scripts we take examples World of warcraft there's multi-bots and scripts World of warcraft Game Masters can't take actions because they might strike an innocent person account

We're talking about WoW cause their budget more then imvu budget, sad case is just theory there's no advanced technology to detect bots right now.
might if imvu go with partnership with google that can be possible.

otherwise imvu bots/script detection won't only ban innocent people it will just create a mess.

Regards Mox.

You originally asked about sending people credits in order for them to buy your products, doing that excessively could be considered "gaming" which is grounds for disablement.

Using Adblock is fine. That does not interfere with our internal systems or operation. It simply stops you from seeing ads.
