Updates:

Review process:

As part of the verification process, we review catalogs of accounts for inappropriately rated and copied products. We also review tax documents (required for US creators and optional for international ones).

As part of the payout process, depending on the amount and other factors, we may review an account in more detail in terms of actual transactions that yielded the money. Just like any other fraud prevention measures, we will not state exactly what is reviewed and how.

So yes even for verified accounts, payouts still may trigger additional review.

Timeline:

We continue to process payout requests within 3-6 business days. When a payout request is processed and that ticket is closed, you are sent a message to your IMVU inbox to that effect. Paypal may take additional few to several hours to deposit that money into your accounts.

Duplicate tickets and payouts of "all available" balances"

Please do not file a second payout request while your first one is still open as we will then need to confirm with you before processing either one of them.

Also, there are no plans to simply payout all accumulated available balance when we process a payout request. For accounting purposes and to avoid any confusion, you must specify the amount you want in your payout at the time of request and we will issue the payout totaling that amount.

Tax reporting

U.S. Creators will have money for product sales earned in the prior tax year reported on the Form 1099-MISC. We issue these Forms on or before January 31 each year.

Non-U.S. Persons will have their income reported annually on the IRS Form 1042- S. This form is an informational statement of your earnings and any applicable withholding withheld during the prior tax year. We issue this form on or before March 15 each year.

For example, we report any money paid from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015 on either Form 1099-MISC issued in January 2016 to U.S. persons or Form 1042-S issued in March 2016 to Non-U.S. persons. So in January 2016 or March 2016 is when we will report all earnings made via payouts from IMVU starting in April 2015.

Thank you

Independent Contractor Compliance and Misclassification Blog

February 5 2015

On February 1, 2015, the Joint Enforcement Task Force on Employee Misclassification issued its Annual Report. The Report noted that the New York Task Force members in 2014 conducted over 12,000 audits and investigations, resulting in detection of employee misclassification involving over 133,000 workers. Those efforts culminated in the discovery of $316 million in unreported wages, leading to assessments of $8.8 million in unemployment insurance contributions. Since 2007, joint enforcement activities in New York have identified made unemployment insurance assessments on nearly $2.1 billion in unreported wages.

For states like New York, organizations that use 1099ers but fail to do so in a manner compliant with state law represent a source of previously unreported wages and leads to assessments of unemployment and workers’ compensation contributions as well as tax penalties, interest, and assessments. Failing to enhance independent contractor compliance can also generate ancillary liabilities including exposure to class action lawsuits seeking unpaid overtime, minimum wages, and benefits. These are detailed in hundreds of cases reported in our monthly updates of independent contractor compliance and misclassification.

It has been observed that technology companies that use the 1099 “on demand” business model were at risk if they do not take care to structure, document and implement their IC relationships in a manner consistent with federal and state IC laws.

Uber and Lyft lose key motions in California independent contractor class actions; decisions have far-reaching implications for companies that fail to properly structure and document independent contractor relationships.

You are most welcome Poly.

Everyone is on overload here with things being sprung on them, shock of what has happened, loss of money, stress in real life and the most COMPLICATED SCREW UP to get your money.

You can simply ring those places up and jot down a list of rough questions just to alleviate some of your stress.

Anything you miss, email them after.

It's not like IMVU is going to do a back flip of epic proportions in 0.01 seconds.

If they do, I have already made contact with the Guinness Book of World Records to make sure it is documented.

I contacted Ripley's Believe It or Not and they said NOT!!!

Why does it take a further 3-6 business days to process a payment when we already have to wait 14 days?

Transaction should be safe and checked correct?

I suggest you speed things up a bit, because when I see '3-6 business days' I actually see 6 days. And that's a really long time if you need to cash out rather quick. I think 1-2 days would be more reasonable. If you're afraid of floodgates, then hire more staff.

Maybe add a further 3-6 business days check on payouts of $1,000+ ?

I was approved for payout on my alt yesterday morning.

This morning - no money in my Paypal as of yet.

I suppose "shortly" no longer means same business day.

There was one post/message copy that it could be 1-2 business days for paypal to get the money now.

I'm curious if those of you under review because of your amount are still under review how long is that taking? And why the hell has there been no weigh in on if it will happen every time there is a huge request or only once. It's still the weekday right? Or did the staff forget how to use their keyboards?

I just sent my papers in yesterday early morning Canada time. Next I am asked to send proof of ID which I sent immediately. I had done this in other 3D worlds so I am familiar with it.

So far I like how fast they respond. I am not verified yet and I do not expect to be for a while even though I can cash out if I wanted to. I want to wait for a full month to get some decent amount and make the wait useful. I will also only cash out once a month and on the same dates or close to that.

Other 3D worlds also take a while to process your cash out just to give you enough time to cancel or for other things. So when the money gets to ur paypal it is 5-7 business days or something.

I do not expect IMVU will ever make this an instant process but maybe they can give us an exact number of days so we can plan our cash out date and the date of having it in paypal.

Furthermore, just like automatic reoccurring online payments set to once a month on the same day, IMVU might even make the cash out possible to set to a date for each month inside our account. Like something we can choose by clicking and keep that in our account and then cash out goes from our account to IMVU automatically on the same day every month. This will make it easy to remember when we did the last cash out on calender. It will also help with miscalculation of dates. I am sure soon people will be saying "I cashed out after a month but IMVU says I cashed out twice a month..."

>>Still have not got my money in Paypal either so the message I received on 5/5/15 that the money will be in Paypal by the end of the business day is not true. Looks like its going to be another wait which is ridiculous, paypal is automatic and 24/7 the people dragging a_ _ is IMVU staff. I waited a full 7 business days before IMVU agreed to pay me now I am still waiting on DAY 8.......NO MONEY STILL.
Get more people on this IMVU. WE FIRST WAIT 3-6 BUISNESS DAYS THEN ADDITION 1-2 FOR YOU TO SEND IT TO PAYPAL. SO YOU JUST AS WELL CHANGE THAT NUMBER AGAIN! TO 3 TO 8 BUISNESS DAYS!!!

Same here. One day after the ticket is closed and Paypal payment should be automatic.
I'd like some clarification over this process, it used to take only a few hours, and now a whole day?

Now I regret that I only applied for $50 for my first payout as a test...I should have requested all my available cash instead.

At this rate I probably will only get the money for my second reqest before the weekend if I am lucky. If they need to review my account since I request for a much bigger amount the second time there will be more delay...there's probably only a part time staff working 2 hours a day processing all our payouts and reviews. Sad

Most likely that's because you are currently flipped over to cash...in which case you will find your sales under Pended Cash Schedule
