Please read this post if you have a shared public room with a partner - either via our Shared Room feature or Marriage Package feature.

Both of these account upgrades allow you and your partner to decorate a chat room together using rooms and furniture from both your collections. When these rooms are still private, both partners can make changes to the room decor independently.

Once the room is made public the partner who uses his/her chat room slot to host that room controls the room and needs to be save the changes while present in the room in order for the changes to be saved. The intent behind this behavior is when a room is public the person who is considered the "owner" **of that room should have the ultimate say regarding the content and layout of the room.
**If that room is flagged, please note that the room owner aka partner who has made the room public is considered the room owner.

Let's do this with an example:

>> Katiemarie and Varsha buy a Shared Room and decorate a room together. The room has furniture from both their collections.

>> Varsha then uses one of her VIP room slots to make that room public.

>> Katiemarie goes in the public room without Varsha and moves a sofa around. The sofa appears to be moved but when Katiemarie leaves the room the change is not saved.

>> Varsha goes in the room without Katimemarie and moves a lamp around. The lamp is moved and when Varsha leaves the room the change IS saved.

>> Both Katiemarie and Varsha enter the room and Katiemarie moves a sofa around. As long as Varsha then makes any change to the room the sofa will be in the new position once both leave the room. The room owner must make the last change to a public shared room for any changes to be saved.

We hope this clarifies any confusion regarding how the features work!

Thank you

what imvu also has failed at is that when you purchase a shared room by chance if you happen to accidentally rove a person from you list you will loose your room it is false advertizing same with married package although that one has a safe net built into but the shared one if you inadvertently removed someone you automatically loose your shared room which is wrong i know first hand as both my wife and i have done it by accident and played heck to get it back which is sad you should have the right upon purpose to keep what you purchased . now if by chance you wish to remove someone off shared room yes you can only share with out you should not loose what you had paid money for sad money grab by imvu

i have 2 shared rooms an its been this way since day one i got them, im sharing with 2 ppl an for there items to remain in the room i have to be in the room with them so there items can stay, if im not in the room they add something it wont stay in the room even if they lock it, same way with a room thats being shared with me, i go in to finish a decorating area an there not in it my stuff will not stay in it , when room owner thats sharing with me is in it then my items hold an stay in the room ... this needs to be fixed , i get tired of spending time decorating in the room to make it nice like we agreed an then come back in an the hr or 2 i just spent in there working was for nothing cause everything i just put in didnt stay...this needs to be fixed or it cant really be called a shared room an some cant be on all the time to babyset the room so you can add items you both want in it... an if they stop sharing you lose the room you just bought give the money back or the credits to get another one this is wrong an also known as theft we dont rent these room we bought them the other thing is it was in the update an i read it 2 or 3 times an asked questions about it, you lose your vip this room gos pc, why when it has nothing to do with your vip, it was asked long ago when this shared room thing first came out an it was said then in forums " no your vip do not effect your shared rooms" this is bull an false i had 4 rooms now down to 2 , one i share with my husband in rp an hes also my rl hubby an one i share with my bestie, we bought these rooms there for they are ours they are investment into your company we should be able to keep what we bought not have it yanked out under us...

we had something a little similiar, we wanted to make a ALREADY PUBLIC room shared, we did ask them VIP help desk an were told we could do so, so yes we buy the shared room package only to find out U can NOT use a already public room,, WE LOVE the VIP help chat (yes they refunded us) , but plz know u cant use a already public room.

an yes we have found that we have been booted off eachother friends lists (we have the wedding package) it seems to be some sorta glitch with these friends lists that ppl poof or something an again we contacted the vip help center an luckily the marriage package wasnt affected (idk maybe cause we were only un friended for about 2 hours?)

Boooo, that is so stupid imvu. BOTH avatars should be able to change the room, not just the person tha listed it in his or her public room slot! What a rip off now. Your making it so that who ever is the REAL owner of the public shared room has to BE THERE! Well sorry but my shared room buddy does not sleep when i sleep so we cannot wait around for each other.
What a rip off i think. You are BOTH owners of the room jus one of you used up an open public room slot.... so Really your NOT both room owners of the public room. Only the public room owner gets to do the room make over and the other person gets the shaft! What a joke.

I would love if imvu can fix this issue. I don't think its fair at all, that I should have to wait for my fiancée to be online in order for me to decorate our home. Its a lot of hassle. PLEASE fix this issue! Sad Question Confused

I agree with DocHaven....When you purchase a Shared Room package there is nowhere on the purchase page that says if you remove the friend/partner from the room you lose that room or the ability to share with a different friend. I paid money to have the ability to share a room with a friend..one at a time I thought. I did not marry this person ...so there was a good chance it was something for the time being...If I had known that IMVU could take what i paid money for because either that person left or I did ..accident or not...I would not have spent basically $15 on something that lasted ...what...2 weeks tops??? Ridiculous ..annoying and rather shady like. I shouldn't have had to go hunting around AFTER I went looking to add another friend to share a room with me and found out it was locked again..seriously???? really??? Not a happy camper with this set up. Funny you don't take away an item that I purchase with credits even if I don't like it (unless it violated ToS) but i pay hard cash for something and poof it's gone. Razz

Go from one to fun! Decorate your room... together!

You have wonderful taste and that's reflected in how you've decorated your rooms, but how would you like to take the creative process from ONE to FUN?!

With a Shared Room, you can invite a friend or partner to set up and manage a chat room... together! Choose from both your tasteful collections of furniture and rooms to build your unique, Shared Room.

Today only, Shared Room is $14.99 $9.97 -- that's a love-filled 30% off!!

No where in this does it explain or let people know that this is only for a private room... that once they go public the feature wont save you BOTH can no longer do a thing. This is a complete rip off.. i was so disappointed :/

Seriously? Thanks imvu.. this means i can't set up our public club for a surprise party for my husband as he opened the room..

False advertising if you ask me....... would never have purchased a shared room for a public club if this had been disclosed to me.

When will people realise that IMVU don't care about what you want, they only see $$ signs.

Imagine how many people purchased the marriage package and broke up? IMVU are raking in the money.

Its the same with shared rooms. They cannot even allow either party to decorate, that would be too easy. Its simple coding to rectify it, but they wont do it. They just wait till you delete each other, take your room and wait for you to be silly enough to buy yet another shared room.

If IMVU actually gave the smallest concern they would fix this, but money means more to them

I dont own a shared room but i dont really see the issue you all have with the current setting.

If i would own a shared room and made it public on one of my room slots and the person i share with adds something ufi or a combination of items thats ufi by how they are placed etc. then i as the public room owner would be held responsible for it thats what Varsha said.

Honestly if i am responsible for such issue then i would at least want to see it before i loose my account over it. The current setting makes sure the Person thats held responsible must accept the Furniture Placement and thats a good idea i would say.
