Changes to Community Events

We now have a much simpler way to get your events and contests noticed by the entire IMVU community!

Starting July 8, 2015, the IMVU community will post any events to the User-Hosted In-Chat Events forum, and any contests to the Contests forum. We are no longer using the Google Form for events listings. Once you have an event or contest set up, please send a message to either ShannonMac OR you can send us an email with your event/contest details to CommunityTeam@imvu.com

When sending us your event or contest, be sure your message contains the following information:
- Name of the event OR contest
- Name of the person hosting it (your IMVU username)
- Event OR contest date(s)
- Direct link to the room in which the event is held, OR a link to your forum post about the event/contest
Messages must contain all of this information before it will be considered for the Community page.

Events and contests must follow the same guidelines outlined in this post. We will showcase selected user-hosted events and user-hosted contests on our Community page.

We want YOUR events to fill up the Community page's Events section, in addition to regular IMVU events. We have had many IMVU-hosted official events recently, as seen in this forum, but we want to see more and more IMVU community events listed here!

This is an opportunity to advertise your club opening, Creator showroom, movie/TV club gathering, holiday party, and much more. Interested? Read on for more information:





Details


- An "event" is a party or gathering in an IMVU chat room. Links will lead directly to a room in the IMVU 3D chat program
- We are currently accepting events hosted from October 15-onward. The sooner you send events to us, the sooner they will become available as long as they meet our criteria
- Events will be added on a rolling basis, and will likely be added to the Events section a few days prior to the event

Guidelines

- Events must have a specified start date. Since IMVU is a global community, we are thinking of ways to resolve timing concerns, and appreciate your thoughts on this (reply below)
-Events must be submitted at least two days in advance; if you are submitting an event on a Saturday or a Sunday, please send it to us by Thursday
- Events can be GA or AP
- Events can fall into many categories: DJ parties, creator showroom openings, parties based on your IMVU group, roleplay introduction socials, discussions on the latest movies or TV, and so on
- You can send us as many events as you would like! There is no cost to host an event
- You or room mods should be present during your event
- Chat rooms used must be set to public and may not have any Room Access controls (friends only, etc.) AP events will be open to AP users only.
- Events may not have any entrance fees


Note:

- You may use portals as a way to link one featured event with more of your rooms to extend the fun

- These guidelines and rules below may change based on this initial test and your feedback.

Event Submission Updated on July 8, 2015

Once you have an event or contest posted to the User-Hosted Events forum OR the Contests forum, please send a message to either katiemarie or Varsha OR you can send us an email with your event/contest details to CommunityTeam@imvu.com

When sending us your event or contest, be sure your message contains the following information:
- Name of the event OR contest
- Name of the person hosting it (your IMVU username)
- Event OR contest date(s)
- Direct link to the room in which the event is held, OR a link to your forum post about the event/contest
Messages must contain all of this information before it will be considered for the Community page.

Chat rooms submitted to us as events will be evaluated by members of IMVU staff. Keep checking the Community page to see if your event was chosen. Note: If your room URL is incorrect, it will not be featured on the Community page, so double check to ensure it works!

We are very excited to provide our dedicated community members with a way to showcase their upcoming events for the entire IMVU community. As mentioned, we are currently testing this out and welcome your feedback on Events. If you have questions or suggestions for this page or the Events program in general, please reply to this thread.

FAQ Section

Q: Can I host a contest in my room?
A: Yes, you can host a contest in your room. The title of your event may mention the contest, but we recommend that you post additional details about the contest in the User Hosted In-Chat Events forum. Your event may not have an entry fee, however.

Q: Do we always need to post in the User Hosted In-Chat Events forum if we want to host an event?
A: No, it is not required to post in that forum when you submit an event. But, it is highly recommended to do this if you are hosting a contest, or the event is themed, etc.

Q: I sent in an event, but I do not see it listed. Why?
A:: Some events are not being listed for one or both of the following reasons: 1) the event listing is submitted on the same day as the event occurs; 2) the chat room URL does not work. Please submit your events at least two days in advance to ensure that we have enough time to list it on the Community page. And, double check to make absolutely certain that your room URL works. We test chat room URLs before placing an event on the Community page, and if the URL does not work we will not list the event.

I know right.. and the sad thing is.. there hasn't been any word if this initial trial of said feature will eventually turn into a pay to advertise thing.

But I think it will turn into that because.. well no one would think.. "Hey.. I can advertise my event on pulse or in a group.. and we can suck even more money out of them."
