Was the opt out supposed to take away the years as well. I thought it was just for the colors.

Opt out completely reverts the cards to the non-enhancements format and includes tenure years.

Well that is a bit of a bummer. I loved the years display. But not enough to opt back in on this. Thank you for your quick reply Varsha.

OO

So let me see if I have this all figured out, because I am not seeing something here, or maybe there is something here and i'm just missing it.

IMVU is making dimmer colors, and users will be able to either have darker or lighter colors. Now will this setting effect ALL user cards, or just the user's card that decides to go with this?

IE.. If I have my setting to muted.. will ALL of the cards appear muted, or just mine?

If it is just mine that will appear muted, how does this really help the users that would like to look at someone else card if they have bright colors?

Now if this setting will mute all cards for the user, this is at least a step forward.. If it's going to only mute the colors for the user and ONLY their card.. This solves nothing and is a waste of the programmers time and is an insult to the intelligence of the community.

But then the question needs to be asked, if this setting will mute all of the colors for the user, why not just give them an opt out feature.. it would take just as long and in the end everyone would be happy.

Granted IMVU might not be because not everyone would be using their brain child.. but how about not just thinking about yourselves for once.

At least the people that have asked for this minor fix.. have put the thoughts of everyone on the table instead of just their own.

IE the full opt out.. people still being able to see the colors if they so choose, and people that don't wish to see them, also having that choice.

What has IMVU given people for choices? Look at the colors and get hurt, or don't look at the cards at all. Sometimes an all or nothing isn't the way to go, especially when it comes to something that is actually needed.

Something else I am kind of curious about.. why is it that unlike the other threads.. this one just stays buried under the rest?

I used the Opt out but for some reason I am still seeing colors on some Pro cards. So my question is if the other person doesn't Opt out are we still going to see their colors? It seems to be random though.

The goal I fought to achieve is in the Quote above.

To me it did not matter about any other colour choices.

The only way to Completely Stop Any Medical/Physical Harm was to REVERT back to the non-enhanced format which IMVU finally delivered.

IMVU has addressed the fact that the profile card is an Integral Part of the Site and Client by reverting so Members can still use the site like it was before.

I am not sure if others read about the 3 types of Websites I posted amongst this thread and the Complete Opt Out Suggestion Thread.

IMVU is classed as a AAA website.

This means that to make some further adjustments with coding, they would do it "Voluntarily".

AAA Websites can be exempt from some of the Accessibility Guidelines as they are complex and have been built before these Guidelines came out.

Whereas now when building a new Website you can implement the Guidelines using numerous types of software so it is Accessible from the start.

I never liked the colours when they first came out, and I have no type of Vision Impairments.

I liked the old cards and still do.

It was always (for me) about a "Complete Opt Out" on Medical Grounds.

Just going to leave this right here with a couple suggestions:

1. Have the designers cut off 4 px from the bottom of the tenure.. it really looks ugly. The pic I posted shaved off the overhang and it looks a LOT cleaner.

2. Remove "At IMVU" since it's for the avi cards.. I think people already know that it's "At IMVU" it's not like it could mean anything else.

Some things still needed tweaking (like the layout) in my opinion. However, the opt-out is there and muted colors (like them or not) can make it easier for those who have vision issues to use the feature.

Thank you IMVU for recognizing the avatar card for the tool it is to all of us and for recognizing the needs of ALL your users. This was an important issue.

I would like to see the colors meet the accessibility guidelines, but maybe that is something you will do in the future. Really, once the opt-out was introduced, you had no obligation to do anything more. So the muted colors are a bonus effort. Not everyone loves the new colors, but with 100k user, that is expected.

So, thanks IMVU for making the opt-out available. Perhaps in a future hack night your techs can tweek the design and offer some more exciting color choices for the wallpapers.

One can hope... Twisted Evil & as Snowy pointed out, the opt out creates that huge UGLY hole that they REALLY should fix (since they broke it) asap either way... Wink =^.^=

@Hera: I prefer the muted colors because I can now enjoy the feature. I do feel bad that others lost their neon.

@ Lizzie: I agree, they need to fix the hole problem since they created it

From the Suggestion Forum regarding the Neon Colours:

NikkiHart01 wrote:

@ Jor, the opt-out was the major part of this. However, if memory serves me, it was your call to accessibility guidelines that got that ball rolling on the colors. Personally, I agree, colors need to meet the guidelines even if it's voluntary. Maybe in a future hack night they will come up with better layout and colors. ~shrugs~ The neon could have stayed once the opt-out was in place.

I concur Nikki.

This was the first time I had heard about Accessibility on Websites.

It was also the first time I had to research Vision Impairments.

In my years Advocating, I had plenty of experience in Neurological Impairments, Psychiatric Disorders, Sensory Impairments (hyper sensitivity to smell, hyper sensitivity to anything tactile, hyper sensitivity to hearing), Social Impairments, Communication Impairments and Mobility Impairments.

I was on a very steep learning curve and was attempting to get this "harmful" situation fixed ASAP.

So because IMVU gave out a link to certain Individuals which showed the pastel colours, it was at that point I had to make sure those would not also cause physical harm.

So that is how I found the correct colours with the right text ratio so the links could still be read BUT SAFELY.

I knew others loved the colours, so I tacked that on as well as STILL fighting for the Complete Opt Out.

The most ridiculous and farcical decision NOT to give that "OPTION" has wasted months of time with Community Members fighting for that goal.

If IMVU had MADE it available from the beginning, the Neon Colours would still be here.

The colours they have now DON'T meet the Accessibility Guidelines or have the correct text ratio either.

However, by doing the REVERT to the former Profile Card format, that means they have covered their Ass.

In time, Guidelines could change which will leave no option but to address the issue.

Their luck will inevitably run out.
