June 13. 2014: See more updates below!

We are aware that the blocking feature we offer needs some improvements to make it easier to manage as well as prevent ways blocked users can still message people who have blocked them.

We are tackling this issue and will continue to do so in the near future. Today, a few improvements are now available as below.

As a reminder, IMVU users can block other users via multiple ways where we provide flagging/reporting tools - chats, messages, avatar cards, photo stream etc. You can managed your blocked user list here.

1) Forum PMs comply with blocking

If user A has blocked user B, then user B will no longer be able to send user A a forum private message.

2) Group invites comply with blocking

If user A has blocked user B, then user B will no longer be able to send a group invite to user A.

We have added more improvements:

3) Badge granting complies with blocking

If user A has blocked user B, then user B will no longer be able to send a badge to user A

4) Credit gifting complies with blocking

If user A has blocked user B, then user B will no longer be able to send a gift of Credits to user A which can include a message.

5) Chat invites comply with blocking

If user A has blocked user B, then user B can not send chat invites to user A. So user A will not see any "missed chat invites" from user B.

6) Product reviews comply with blocking

If user A has blocked user B, then user B can still view and purchase user A's products (if user A is a Creator) however user B can not leave a review on that product.

Finally IMVU has made an actual "improvement." I'm shocked, but happy.

Yeah, but in keeping with IMVU tradition, this actual improvement is rolled out shortly after another 'improvement' which actually screwed people over. It seems IMVU's tradition of making crappy changes that screw people over, then releasing a good change shortly after to distract us from all the crap they messed up is still going strong.

This is good, hopefully you guys will add other ways for users to protect themselves. Such as blocking them from viewing their homepage, viewing photostream, buying their products, collecting their badges, viewing their rooms and avi cards, and seeing forum posts.

Thank you! Much needed improvements. IMVU needs to add these people not being able view (then maliciously flag) the catty of people blocking them. Also, need to add that NO accounts from the same IP address can message someone who has blocked a user. These are just two ways blocked users continue to harass people.

The catalog thing is a bad idea... If you make UFI content and know people who flag UFI content, just block them and then they can't flag your products. The IP address thing is ALSO not a good idea. Some places have shared wifi and so on for apartment complexes. Just because my neighbor is a jerk and you blocked him, doesn't mean I'm a jerk that you should be blocked as well, and so on.

The suggestion about catty had nothing to do with UFI products. Are you saying that anyone blocked is unable to visit catty pages of someone who blocked them and then flag products??? I believe that is inaccurate. For the record, the catty suggestion comes from having a couch and club booth that have no UFI poses or triggers being flagged and going UFI because some intelligent CS person agreed with the flag. Been fighting to get them back for 3 weeks now. Beginning to think I should call it a loss and remake them....even though they are in NO WAY UFI.

As for the shared wi-fi had not considered this. Perhaps IMVU needs to link user accts better to prevent people from using alt accts to continue to harass people who have already blocked the users main acct. I know other sites do this. It would be helpful if they IMVU could protect us better and not just keep telling us to block and forget it. I have 10 acct blocked that are all the same person because the person kept making alts and using them to harass me.

Nikki, I believe he was trying to say that if your suggestion were implemented UFI content creators could simply block those who would flag there products, thus greatly reducing the likelihood those products would be flagged and removed from the shop.

Thank you.....I misunderstood his comment. That does make sense but at same time it opens up honest devs to the problem of malicious repeated flagging. I speak from experience.

I really don't see the big issue to it though, since many people will flag a UFI product and you would never know who it was to block them all. This is even more likely to be the case with all triggers showing in peer review. So why not restrict catty access to a blocked user to protect the honest devs who get harassed by someone who is pissed off because you blocked them?

Well you know, one bad apple spoils the entire barrel. But I do like your suggestion.
