After the launch of our Marriage Package, many of you requested that we add a similar feature which will allow any friends, club owners or partners to share a chat room - set up, decorate and manage it together.

Now you have it! We are launching the brand-new Shared Room feature today. Upgrade to 3D Chat client version 495.4 or up to check it out.

Buy one, few or many Shared Rooms and partner with your friends to manage them together. One shared room can be shared with one partner at a time.

You can use furniture and rooms from both your collections and decorate together. Keep it as a private room for you to invite your friends and family into or make it a public chat room using one of your public room slots.

You can get details here:

http://www.imvu.com/shared_rooms/

So how does it work?

--The Shared Room feature is available to all of our community members irrespective of age or account status (VIP/AP?Guest etc).
--The Shared Room feature is available for $14.99 from our Credit Store
--Once you purchase it, you can invite anyone from your friend's list to partner with you.
--Once they accept, the new "Shared Room" button in the 3D Chat client will be unlocked.
--The Shared Room package comes with a fully furnished starter room, however, you can use any of your own rooms to share.
--The package also comes with a animated badge that you can decorate your profile card with.
--If you want to share with more friends, simply buy more Shared Room packages.

If you decide to stop sharing, you can simply go to your Shared Rooms page and click on "stop sharing". Once you do so, the Shared Room feature will be locked and any items in your room that are not from your own inventory will be removed.

We hope you enjoy this brand-new way of having fun on IMVU - that too just in time for the holiday season. Get a Shared Room today and host a new year's bash with your best friend!

Here is a visual representation of the process:

FAQs: (Will be updated as needed)

1) Do both partners need to be on 495.4 or above to share a room?

You can buy and invite anyone, however, in order to actually share and decorate the room, partners must be on client version 495.4 or up.

2) Can I share a room with more than one person at the same time?

No

3) Can I buy a room, share it with one person, stop sharing with that person and use that same package to share it with someone else?

No. One package purchase may be used for sharing a room with one person.

4) What does the Shared Room package include?

Ability to share - manage/decorate together - a room with a friend
Ability to make a shared room public using one of your slots
Ability to use furniture or rooms from both collections to decorate the room
An animated badge for your profile card (you can display it like any other badges you get)

5) Who can I invite to share a room?

Anyone as long as they are on your friend's list.

6) Can I share two separate rooms with two separate partners at the same time?

Yes. Example: Varsha buys a Shared Room Package and shares it with Katiemarie. She then buys another package and shares a room with DarkAngel5. She can also be invited to share a room by Mommajack using a package purchased by Mommajack. So at the same time, Varsha could be a partner in three separate shared rooms.

7) Can I stop sharing a room?

Yes. Either partner can stop sharing a room without prior consent of the other partner.

8 ) Where can I see all my shared rooms?

There is a single page where you can buy Shared Rooms, see the list of all the rooms you are sharing as well as check Invite status and/or stop sharing.

http://www.imvu.com/shared_rooms/

9) Can same two people share multiple rooms?

Yes. They can do so if they purchase multiple Shared Room packages.

10) Can either partner make the Shared Room public?

Yes - using their own public room slot.

11) Can I have the Marriage Package (Our Room) and Shared Room Package?

Yes, you can get the Marriage Package and share the Our Room feature with your married partner AND get the Shared Room package to share it with the same person or another friend.

I buy a shared room feature and share with a friend. Then I decide I don't want to share with that friend any more and take him/her off it.

The questions:
If I decide I want that friend back into the share, do I have to buy another share room feature, or is the previous one still good? If I take said person out of a share, can I then share with someone new on the same purchase?

If I read that page correctly I cannot buy two shares and have 3 of us sharing a room. Is that correct? There can be only two sharing a room?

Also, you use the word FRIEND. Does that mean you can only share with someone on your friend's list? (I know it seems obvious, but it's a loose end I need to tie up - grin).

A great feature, but why isn't it for VIPs only? I know - it's a salable feature. (grin)

Correct on both counts.

One shared room purchase = share it with one friend

Yes, you have to share it with someone who is already on your friend's list

If you stop sharing a room, you have to buy another shared room to start sharing it with that same person or another friend.

I missed that on my first read-through. That is good. I did not want a new room.

Soo...if I am understanding.....we have to pay $14.99 per package, Varsha? That seems expensive....I would rather pay $20-$40 for a permanent feature/package then spend $15 a package....or....see this feature added to the amazing benefits you receive from the VIP membership. I hope the price figure can be reconsidered Sad
I completely understand the business perspective, but, I assume Imvu makes enough money from the bundles, credits, etc. because..Imvu is amazing. Thanks Varsha nonetheless. I look forward to your response.
