Our goal in these messaging changes is making communication much better for our customers. In addition to the desire to see sent messages that has been expressed by our community for years, user testing and customer interviews helped us understand that additional improvements would be necessary for a large number of our customers that had challenges using messaging at all. Of course we have a diverse community with different needs, so there is never a one-size-fits-all solution, and we try hard to meet the most important use cases for our customers.

We started testing threaded messaging with a large group of beta testers and received a lot of feedback about what needs to change, some of which is echoed in this forum thread. Through surveying the beta group, overall feedback was the new messaging was a significant improvement over the old messaging (even with the reported issues) so we made the decision to start rolling it out as, overall, it was considered an improvement. Our community manager, Varsha, also did a great job of summarizing the community feedback as input into the decision to launch. One of the areas we heard from our community but clearly misjudged was the importance of the timing of when we would deliver message delete – as such, we’re making this the highest priority for the team and it will be available for all customers very soon.

We want to make the new messaging system an awesome customer experience, so the effort doesn’t end with the delete functionality. Until we feel we have delivered on our goal, we will be adding a toggle button to messaging to allow customers to choose which version of messaging they prefer, which should be a temporary solution to some of the other issues expressed in this thread.

The next priority for the team is a revision to the look and feel to ensure all of our customers can access their messages without difficulty. In particular, we want to make sure that customers with all levels of vision and screen resolutions can communicate and connect with friends.

Once these changes are in place we will continue to watch how customers are using messaging, listen to customer feedback and do user testing to understand what next step is necessary to deliver an awesome customer experience. ]"

Nothing like making messages more confusing by arranging them some nonsensical way then removing the chance to see if friends logged on ny seeing reasonable sized avi pics and green dots. Way to screw up imvu - facebook envy needs to end - people go to facebook to facebook.

IT WOULD BE NICE IF IMVU DEVELOPERS AND EXECS ACTUALLY USED IMVU AND COULD UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOOD AND DIFFERENT ABOUT IT AND ACTUALLY IMPROVE THOSE THINGS!!! NOT HAPPY!
