Modern Technique (MT)
A new type of role-play has been formed, MT, it mainly focuses on the aspects of Non-Combat Role-Play e.g Communicating with one another.
The reason I have created this new type of role-play is to make it more enjoyable and less like any other form of role-play although some aspects of the MT is slightly similar to the other forms.
Let’s start of with the Non-Combat Aspects of MT.
Non-Combat Modern Technique
- When using a verb, e.g. running or singing, you have to use an adverb to it or a simile, e.g. –Johnny runs quickly- or –Johnny slowly sings in tune with the music-
- MT does not really care about description therefore the describing of a particular object, item, person etc... Is optional, but when you first enter a room, you have to describe who you are, your affiliations, how you enter the room and any other aspects of yourself that you feel like sharing, e.g.
JOHNNY HAS ENTERED THE CHATROOM
Johnny: - Johnny Holowitz knocks on the door- (DESCRIBING HOW YOU WISH TO ENTER THE ROOM)
Sam: -Opens door- (MAKING IT FREE FOR JOHNNY TO Enter THE ROOM) Welcome
Johnny: Hi –Johnny, with his red jacket, enters the room striding shaking Sam’s hand, Johnny’s nickname is ‘Jackknife’, the wind pulls his black hair southwards, Johnny, who is part of the police force, takes a seat- (WHEN DESCRIBING YOUR AFFILIATION OR JOB, ORIENTATION IT MAY BE FAKE OR REAL, WHEN DESCRIBING HOW YOU LOOK LIKE OR YOUR ATTIRE, IT MUST BE TRUE OR YOUR PASSAGE WILL NOT BE LEGIT, ALSO WHEN DESCRIBING YOURSELF, TELLING THEM YOUR JOB or NICKNAME DO NOT ACTUALLY TELL THEM YOUR DESCRIPTION, ADD IT IN CLAUSES. DO NOT DO IT LIKE THIS Johnny: - Johnny has a red jacket, beige pants, and a black cornrow. His nickname is ‘Jackknife’, he works with the police force.-
- Spying – Now... Imagine you enter a room spying on a person called urmmm. Puck, would you want to tell them your description, he might of been informed that the person who was spying on them (this case it’s you) uses MT. In this case, it is optional to use description or something like that; the same goes with assassinating someone, trying to hide your identity e.g undercover etc...., although if you are forced to tell your description then you can do all of your descriptions fake e.g Johnny: -Samuele glares out into the bar and ahead of that the beach, his red tie balances on his t-shirt, and he tightens up his black 3-piece suit, Samuele, who has no job and is a lowlife, wears his red Armani glasses- but you have to tell the truth on how you look and your attire as that rule is strict.
- Over the years many role-play types have been formed, the one I can famously know is Mafia, Cosa Nostra, Gang, Crime, Organized Crime etc... as I am apart of one, now it is a bit freakish for a no-good mafia guy to be creating MT, but I do not intend to take MT by advantage and say that ‘My mafia and family doesn’t get effected by MT as I am the creator of it’, I do not intend to cheat like that. In MT I intend to split role-play types into specific groups.
Mafia, Gang, Thieves, Burglars, Organized Crime or any Realistic-Criminal Things like that all go into the ‘Suspected Crime Organisations’ Category (SCO) all respects to Mafia Families who might be legit and do not do any crime.
Police, Army, Hospital, Fire-fighter, National Guard , Doctor or any Helping-Service jobs, affiliations go into the ‘Helpful Organisations’ category (HO)
Family, Citizen, Person, Homeless, Shopkeeper, Skateboarder, or any person with a normal job e.g Office, Banker, Lawyer, all end up in the ‘Everyday Roleplay Life’ Category (ERL)
Vampire, Demons, Knights, Dragons etc... all split in two sides like the SCO and HO, the good or hero fiction characters e.g Knight, Superhero, Fairies all end up in the ‘Good Guys Conjoined’ Category (GGC)
All the bad or villain fiction characters e.g Bad Dragon, Demons, Vampires all end up in the ‘Suspected Bad Guys’ category SBG, this includes Dragons who have not done harm to anyone.
All the Slaves, and workers end up in the ‘Fiction-Helpers’ Category (FH) e.g person guarding a vampire tower, staying slave to a vampire.
(To be honest, I do not know much about the Fiction-Book characters like Demons and that, so feel free to comment if you wish for me to make any corrections or if you like to add something in) = I decided to sort these aspects of role-play into categories as that is the groups in the MT Role-Play style=
Now onto the Combat Style of MT,
-Always use adverb when using a verb or use a simile e.g –Strikes at Hurgi quickly- or –Pulls the trigger towards Hurgi as slowly as he could-
-Pulling out your weapon, aiming your weapon, powering up your powers to get ready for an attack or sheathing your weapon is apart of combat and you will have to use an adverb or simile to describe how you done the specific thing to your weapon, e.g. –Herald pulls out his gun slowly and targets it at Hurgi precisely on the head-
- Refering to the example above, you are only allowed to use at least two actions which refer to combat and I said refer to combat so don’t complain when someone does this –Looks around, stares at Hurgi, and pulls his gun out-, There is many actions which refers to the Combat style of MT and these actions are Grabbing, Punching, Kicking, Pushing, Sheathing your weapon, Aiming your weapon, Drawing your weapon or powering up your powers for an attack
-MT does not really concentrate on the limited words you are allowed to use, or how quick you are, really it is just fair turn-based like T1.
-NOTE: When using MT you are not allowed to use your combat actions as if you killed the person e.g. below:
-Conduit shoots person in the eye- WRONG, WHY? Because you are deciding if the person is dead or not, the only way to decide if the person’s dead or not is for them to get disqualified (do something wrong or illegal) or for him to exit the chat room saying that he ‘quit, or he admit’s he is dead’ etc... if you for some reason exit a chat room after a persons action has finished purposely you are dead, but if you exit because of reasons like internet connection gone down or etc... then you have to message the person (you were battling) and tell him that, and then order another fight with him (as if you were doing this all over again)
Anyways back on track –Conduit aims at his eye precisely and pulls the trigger sharply- Note that this is Right because he is not saying that he killed his opponent, he is saying that he pulled the trigger so that the bullet can go towards him, the other person has the option to say –tries to dodge quickly, but takes the hit to his arm- or just say –hits his eye powerfully and dies- (IT IS OPTIONAL TO USE ADVERBS or SIMILIES –comparisons- IF YOU DODGE, decide to get hit or BLOCK) If you get shot in the head (and allow it to hit you) then it is a one shot kill but there is the option to dodge it remember. But when using your powers e.g. fire storm, you are allowed to do –Strikes fireball precisely at his eye with full power- but not –Strikes fireball precisely at his eye with full power pushing his opponent to the floor lethally- as it breaks the rule about ‘deciding if your opponent is dead or got hurt’ let’s call that rule ‘Controlling Your Opponent’
- Counter-Attack aka. (in MT) Dodge-Attack
Jacob: - slowly aims gun at Sami and pulls the trigger sharply- (It is optional to decide whereabouts you aimed your gun at your opponent e.g. Mouth, or Arm, if you do not decide whereabouts you pulled the trigger, your opponent must say –if he got hurt- Sami: <Takes the bullet that hit his arm> or any other part of the body.
Why do I always go off track?
COUNTER ATTACK aka DODGE ATTACK
You are only allowed to Dodge Attack if you dodge or block not if you take the hit.
So after Jacob says: –slowly aims gun at Sami and pulls the trigger sharply-
Sami must say: <rolls forwards out of the guns path worriedly <S>, runs towards Jacob like a psychopath <S>, aims the gun at the bottom of his chin bravely and pulls the trigger> In order for a counter-attack. Also use <S> (Split) to split your dodges and attacks if you do not do this when Dodge-Attacking you are disqualified and presumably dead. When Sami ‘runs towards Jacob like a psychopath’ he uses <S> before and after his ‘in-between action’ to split the Dodge and Attack, you have to do this or you are disqualified.
Now Jacob has the option to: -Take the hit and die- (As your chin is apart of your head) or –Pushes Sami out of the way before he pulls the trigger-
(Note that pushing when someone is grabbing you, punching you, pointing a gun right to your head – when he is near you – counts as a dodge or block but... if you do this to start a fight, to taunt, then this counts towards your attack – remember you are allowed to use two attacks – also you have to say ‘before he pulls the trigger’ or anything like that if the person decided he is near you or your move is illegal )
You can also dodge-attack this move by –Pushes Sami out of the way before he pulls the trigger <S> uses all his weight to punch Sami in the nose- (Use one <S> if there is nothing else between your dodge and attack)
When killing someone always bring at least one person for proof, and keep a copy of the chat room name, and the passage of how you killed him anywhere to make it legal. I have formed a group page called MT Proof Killings so go there to paste your proof and record.
I am not in any way intended to make life harder for IMVU RPers but to make life simpler, I know MT is a little hard to remember and I know some people do not respect that I am creating my own form of RP. If you would like to become a ‘fair moderator’ for the Modern Technique please go to the group page MT – Simple and Modern. Please comment if I have any mistakes, comment if you want to become a ‘fair moderator’ for the MT style of Role-play, comment if you want to talk about drama or want to make some suggestions of your own. I will not be rewriting or editing this (unless it has grammar errors) so please do not give me a hard time. Thank You!
Here is a little example of two people fighting each other using MT Non-Combat and Combat.
Johnny: –Johnny, with his red jacket, enters the room striding shaking Sam’s hand, Johnny’s nickname is ‘Jack-knife’, the wind pulls his black hair southwards, Johnny, who is part of the police force, takes a seat- Hello Sam
Sam: Good to meet you chief, whaddya need? –He slowly sits on his chair-
Johnny: -His fingers wriggle steadily and reaches his gun like a scorpion capturing his prey, he draws his pistol quickly and aims at Sam slowly-
Sam: Shi’ <Sam rolls on the floor and pushes himself off the ground to stand like a warrior> You asked for it
Johnny: -Johnny pistols bullets everywhere like a mad man then shoots towards Sam-
Sam: <Jumps like matrix behind the bar and grabs a shotgun firmly into his hands, then he aims at Johnny’s head non-hesitantly and pulls the trigger quickly>
Johnny: -he breathes and sweats simultaneously, then dives towards Sam <S> and attempts a takedown strongly-
Sam: <Falls down onto the ground <S> attempts a kick to Johnny in the head like he is about to get sent to the gates of hell>
Johnny: -Rolls over <S> stands bravely <s> and reaches out for his pistol and shoots Sam-
Sam: <Takes the hit to the shoulders painfully and screams deathly in pain> Shiiiii’
Johnny: -Grabs Sam’s Shotgun firmly, aims gun at Sam’s head accurately and pulls the trigger strongly-
SAM QUITS THE CHAT ROOM
Sam messages Johnny: My internet connection went down
The next day...
Johnny: ~Attempts punches at Sam continuously on the head~
Sam: ~Blocks Johnny wisely~
Johnny: ~Grabs his brass-knuckles strongly and with all his might he strongly attempts a punch towards Sam’s head~
Sam: ~Takes the punch and cries in pain~
Johnny: ~Pushes his right arm forward quickly towards Sam’s head~
