Hello, I've got this problem,
I create tops with text on them but the text is always blurry or faded or even squared O.O
Could anyone tell me how to get it right?
Been browsing through many tutorials but didn't find the answer..
Here are some failures uploaded:

When going for tops with text on it I try to make the font big and not write too many words. That way you can read it easier. _________________

I had the same problem when I tried. I found out if the top has smaller breasts or more flat, the letters look much better. _________________

Yeah, but when the shirt is flat and i've got only few words and the letters are solid big and very readable, how to prevent the bluring, fading and pixelating?
I tried boosting up the resolution.. Didn't work.. |

What texture sizes do you use? Textures should always be in the power of 2, and never be bigger than 256x512, 512x256 or 256x256 for square textures. If you use textures any bigger, imvu will resize it automaticly, which will cause unnecessary blurring _________________

I looked at the gray shirt you linked and for the most part the text looks good. The few spots that it blurred slightly were due to the mesh stretching slightly in those areas. There is not much you can do to change how this appears. BUT you could try using "sharpen" on it. This may or may not get the effect you want. If you are in photoshop I would use the sharpen tool (it's grouped with blur and smudge) and not the sharpen filter. This way you can just sharpen the letters you want to make clearer.
Sometimes when meshes stretch or squish textures you can squish or stretch it the opposite way to counter the warping but it is so slight in that gray shirt I'm not sure you will truly get better results.
The last suggestion I have is if that warping is more than you want then you can look for meshes that don't warp as much. Look for meshes that give large maps for small areas. Don't use anything that has a full body map. You will not get good resolution (for small details and text) from a shirt that is mapped on a full body map. These are ones that you only texture the center section of a 256 x 512 map and the rest is not used because it is the legs hands feet etc... which are not even used in the product.
Oh, one last thing... I found that keeping my resolution at 72 tends to be a fairly optimal setting. So for example a square texture map that is 256 X 256 at a resolution of 72 should get you good crisp textures.
well that's my 2 cents. _________________ |
