Official ‘More Ways to Get Credits’ Thread.

This thread is a place to consolidate the discussions and the pros and cons of implanting more features to the get credits system.

Any spam or personal attacks will be removed. Keep the discussion to the ideas presented and not the people presenting them.

Do not presume any ideas expressed here are IMVU’s official position on the matter, we are all merely users here and can only express our personal opinions on the subject.

Spam posts that are just saying "yes" “no” or "I agree" will be removed. You can say “yes” "no” or I agree” but please follow it up with why.

Any posts without real content will also be removed. “There should be more games” Okay but what games? How will they play? How will they effect the user base?

IMVU has two forms of currency.

Promotional credits: Gift credits issued to gain new users and ultimately convert them to paying customers. Promotional credits can only be use for purchasing things for yourself or for developing costs. Promotional credits can not be transferred, converted, or sold due to abuse potential. When purchasing an item with promotional credits the developer is giving you that product as a promotional item and not earning any profit.

Credits: Purchased Credits backed with real currency. With Credits you may purchase for yourself, others. You may also trade, and sell purchased credits.

Facts on IMVU economy to know and take into account when making and discussing a suggestion.

There are currently several ways to get and earn credits on IMVU including...

Purchase: Buy credits from IMVU.

Contests: Users just like you sponsor contests for fun. Enter for a chance to win excellent prizes including credits, gifts and other cool stuff!

Developing: Earn real credits by becoming a Developer. (Will Earn a Token for a Promotional sale)

Check out Groups for opportunities to capitalize on your graphic arts or coding skills by making custom display pictures, custom layouts or product pages.

Unlike other online communities you may have been a part of IMVU’s economy is a real economy and its credits have an exchange value. IMVU’s chat client and homepages are indeed free, developer content is not. Making everything free is contrary to the independent developing program IMVU is built on.

Please keep these concepts in mind when discussing.

The Trivia at my home page has been discontinued. However, if I can come up with a foolproof contest that didn't eat up too much of my time, I may yet present something.

Imvu users should be able to sell the things in their inventory that they dont use anymore. The credits would go to them. That way everyone ca get credits and the creators would get more because more people could buy. Its an idea that alot of people agree with.

The only people who agree with this idea are greedy children who believe they are entitled to profit off the hard work of another. Normal, rational, intelligent people realize that they only bought a license to use an item, not sell it. If you want to sell items in the catalog, become a creator. Oh wait, that takes actual effort, something you aren't willing to expend

I would suggest earning credits by posting in the forums (1-5 credits per post) but that might just cause an influx of people spamming. The forums need activity bad, but it might be too overwhelming for the mods I think.

Something else I've seen on other sites. They award cash or points/vc for advertising. Post a picture of you advertising IMVU (sticking an advert at a grocery store bulletin, sidewalk art with the logo, etc) and get credits.

Much more often likely, it is people who don't realize that the things they buy don't really belong to them. ONLY the greedy, children, stupid, lazy doesn't necessarily have to apply.

C'mon Ben, really? You know I'm a blunt bitch. A 20 year old should know better, when they don't I consider it purposeful ignorance, which as you know I relish calling out.
But now that you have appropriately chastised me, care to join me for a Margarita? They're nummilicious (:

"A little Crown on ice would be fine, thank you." I watch as Cryptic pours the amber goodness, then sits down opposite me.

"Thank you." I sip. "As to your comments, I just think you relish it a little too much." I grin at you over the top of my glass. Then my eyes widen as you put your lips to your Margarita straw and and with one big slurp half your drink disappears. Do not, I tell myself, get into a drinking contest with Cryptic.

"Anyhow, at least we agree on Voice chat. Thumbs down, I say. But I'm biased. It doesn't work well, due to satellite latency on Hughes Net."

Suddenly, I drop my glass which rolls to the floor. I clutch my throat.

"Poison," I croak. My head hits the table on my way to the floor.

With a pleased smile, Cryptic claps her hands, and a shuffling beast enters the room.

"Bury him in the back yard with the others, Igor."

I think we should be able to earn some credits in the games. I know that's how sites like Meetme works, and they have a VIP option as well, and are doing fine.

It's perks to keep the VIP membership up. VIP is a money maker for IMVU. It's just good business.

IMVU cares about that. They run a business to make money. And non-VIPs boot people also.

I resent that. I am a VIP user, and I only boot people when they are breaking the rules that I have posted for each of my rooms. Get your information straight before you start accusing a general group of people, like VIP users for example. Just because some VIP users abuse the booting privilege in their rooms doesn't mean all of them do. And Non-VIP members who own public rooms can boot as well and I don't see you downing on them. Also, Moderators of public rooms can boot too but I see you didn't even mention them!

its pretty weird , VIP gets 5,000 for each month i think atleast we non VIP's need to play games like Walk Off and farmadia or big business or resort world to atleast earn some credits daily instead of feeding a pet that doesnt give you much at all
