First things first, the Windows and Mac versions should be working flawlessly to start with.

I wish i could find the numbers on how many active Linux users were just more or less told "screw off, we don't need you anymore".
Because really, this is just one more inexcusable thing that DID NOT have to happen to people. _________________

Realistically, a flawless version is a programming anomaly. Every program has its glitches and issues.
Unless a compatible version for Linux is released, we will never know how to address those problems. _________________

SO... what you are saying is that bugs are acceptable as such even if they make a software dysfunction to the point that it becomes unusable. Taking note and hoping you don't have too many of them on your computer.
As far as I am concerned, there's only IMVU and a pro software that give me trouble in this way (no naming and shaming here, but there are many colleagues complaining about crippling bugs too).
And curiously the answers of the development team of said pro software are carbon copies of IMVU replies.
I find it hard to believe that the problem is only with users. _________________

Um, the bugs aren't really that severe on Windows or Mac that the entire versions are rendered unusable otherwise 100k+ users wouldn't have been able to log in everytime on the client.
The major glitched versions are usually disabled when the bug is reported.
There are many softwares and games that doesn't run on my PC even though it meets the ideal requirement guidelines and thats usually how it goes with the compatibility of any program varying on individual systems.
That shouldn't really stop anyone from exploring other popular platforms.
This same argument was there prior to the Mac version release. But, eventually it has helped in bringing more users on here. Same would be for Linux because the userbase isn't really small as others consider it to be. _________________

They KNEW that there were issues with satellite connections and newer IMVU versions - and they did absolutely NOTHING. Puts me really off, even if I am not directly concerned. _________________

In your dreams, I`m afraid.
Its obvious they don't really care.
Still, when they go down the tubes, you, and the rest of us,can at least say.."we told you so"
I for one will not buy any more credits, and when the ones I have are used up, I'm out a here!
If they start to be financially sqeezed the message might start to sink in. |

Update:
We have received your feedback regarding satellite connections and Linux systems. There is however no plan to reactivate the client versions that have already been inactivated.
Also as mentioned in the original announcement, we will be disabling client versions 466.0 and below on May 31st. After that day, all users will be required to use IMVU's 3D chat version 467 or above.
Thank you. _________________ Varsha - Sr. Manager Community Experience |
