Male Catty Question

I'm pretty much disappointed on the first pages of male catty side.
I think something should be done,because other than gifting his own things,the one who owns most of them stuff on the first page doesn't even deserve be there.
All his products are not even changed,he used the same texture as the original Mesh-er.
This isn't about jealousy or whatever,this is about what's right.
I think IMVU should do something about it.It's not fair for the others who worked so much to get there.

They've made a mockery out of the catalog, unfortunately. It'd be nice if they could modify their equation to stop this gaming, but I don't think IMVU is concerned since they're sinking credits every time one of these people do this mass gifting.

They sink in their credits into the massgifting to get their product to page 1 and receive mostly promo purchases.
I had two products on page 1 once without gifting like mad and trust me I was drowning in dev tokens.
Plus people didn't go to my shop and looked for other things, they just bought that particular product like lambs and never threw an eye on the other things. Due to the client shopping, most don't even know how to do it anyway I fear.

They tried instating a no ZCD ban on the catalog last fall. Unfortunately, it never occured to them that there are legitimate ZCD's in the catalog and didn't give us any forewarning. After a few teir seven's entire catalogs disappeared, they had to retract it. Not sure why they haven't reinstated the policy by now - we've had plenty of time to prepare.

If you do a little searching on people giving him reviews, you will see their pages covered with messages from one of his alt accounts saying ---- give me more reviews and you get more free gifts.

Must be costing him hundreds of thousands in credits

gifting any single product should be seen as one vote for a products popularity not one vote for each gift given.

IMVU need to realise people are using scripts to do this mass gifting. And if IMVU is not going to stop it.. then our option is to join them, or fade to the back of the catty.

In the past these scripts were limited to a few people, now there are a number of websites pooping up offering the service.

The easiest way to nip it in the butt is remove mass gifting from the ranking algorithm. Sure its not going to stop it, but it will make it increasingly harder.

Even tho people who has products on the first pages gets more promos than real credits...i don't think that matters that much,yes somehow it does, but seeing your own product on the first pages and knowing u worked hard on it and u tried to be original...then i think it gives you more like a motivation to keep up with your work and do better and more than hunting down credits.
Let's not forget there are creators who does their job for pure hobby,or just because they love doing it.

So...seeing some guy up there who doesn't deserve that ,it kinda makes you mad and just shuts down your motivation.

There always going to be people who game the system no matter where you go. Try not to let it get you down, ultimately you should create just for the joy of it.

I think it's just always going to be that way.
IMVU aren't going to change it because gifts are bought with real credits, if they stop it then nobody does the mass gifting anymore, and by the amount of people that are on the hottest products that have gamed the system that would be a lot less gifts.

I'm sure there was some advertising or promotion recently that actually mentioned that IMVU users 'loved to gift' though I can't be 100% sure on that.

I've only ever had 2 products on the first page of hottest for any category, one was some poses that got to number one for the whole catalog, and another is a TV which is currently up there on the first page of rooms and furniture.
It feels good knowing it's there and you didn't have to do anything to get it there, people just wanted it.

About the promo credits part of it, let me just say for the TV that's there right now, in the last 24 hours I've sold 295 copies, 20 of those were bought with real credits, 275 with promo credits...so out of roughly 300 sales I've made 1,000 credits.
I'd say it's really not worth mass gifting for it to be up there. Maybe you sell more in real credits in other categories like male clothing or something.
