If you are getting a "Loop Error" starting IMVU Client with NO Login Screen *and an error message that says "IMVU has Crashed would you like to Restart?" You are in the right place.

This is not an easy fix. You *can* do it if you read through one or two postings. Start with the post HERE. There is another post linked at the bottom if that page or for convenience you may read the second post from HERE

The information below is for an older version of IMVU Client that no longer pertains. You can no longer use the below temp fixes. . . Skip it and go HERE

_____________________________________________________________
Older Information Below

What people see is "Double Click IMVU Client...seconds pass then "IMVU Has Crashed Want to Login Again...." That is it! Read on this may help you.

This is a temp fix I found for Notebooks with Mobile Chipsets of a certain brand and small graphics memory. As of today I have helped 9 people get back online.

Uninstall/Reinstall Clean IMVU Client is of no help.

Upgrading all the drivers for Dell, HP and ASUS Laptops didn't help.

Reloading the operating system doesn't fix it.

Nor a bunch of other things I have tried with all these people.

The only thing that worked across the board for a 9 people that I talked to is loading this version of IMVU Client.

http://static-akm.imvu.com/imvufiles/installers/InstallIMVU_462.18.exe

My other post on this same topic is at the Bottom of the Page HERE:

http://www.imvu.com/catalog/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpbb2&file=viewtopic.php&t=421200

It seems to only affect certain Graphics Chipsets and at or below 32mb Video Ram. Although there are no posts anywhere that IMVU is working on the problem, I would think after my 10 or so posts in other areas that someone would have seen it.

I bet IMVU is working on the fix.

Enjoy

Thank you, the installing of the other IMVU worked very much. The current IMVU worked for a little while, until eventually it just said, "Whatever" and just didn't want to log me in. Surprised But thank you for the help. ^^ I can now get it.

Thanks and you are most welcome.

For anyone researching this... The related hardware incompatibility seems to be only on Notebooks, Laptops with Graphics adapters that are ATI & AMD Mobile Chipsets. Also, one is using the Nvidia2Go Chipset. All are 32Mb Video Ram or less....

Anyone with an older notebook (2 to 5 years) having issues with double clicking the IMVU Desktop Icon and immediately getting an error of "IMVU Has Crashed Would You Like to Login Again?" Over and over in an infinite loop, forever... Try the temporary fix up there.... You will not be able to create products.

If someone could tell me where the crash log file is I could get someone to email it to me and post it too...

BUMP

I am still getting help email over this. I still see people having problems with this on Mobile Graphic Chipsets of less than 3 years old. Is IMVU going to change the Minimum Hardware Requirements or just ignore this problem?

Thanks Momajack, several of those who have to stay on that level are not able to create anymore :/

A very curious thing.... *My* notebook works fine on any of the versions BUT the "Leaking Red" MGC shows on any version I load for even the Default Green Pants but when I load the 462.18 the bleeding stops... Weird huh?

http://www.imvu.com/catalog/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpbb2&file=viewtopic.php&p=10169621#10169621

I think all of this holds more than is known.....

Have a help ticket submitted for this same issue. Was running 450.2 but have been told to upgrade to latest version - so I'm now back to square one. -sigh-

Yes folks this is an ongoing problem even with the current updates from IMVU Client Download History. If you see the login box, then login and it immediately crashes this is still the only way to run the client.

There may be a newer version that works but this is the one I know has fixed over 58 people up to this date. No acknowledgements from anyone on the problem so I will continue to post so IMVU doesn't loose to many over this problem.

Download this version and install it.

http://static-akm.imvu.com/imvufiles/installers/InstallIMVU_462.18.exe

You can see my original post on this problem with tons of detail from April 15th, 2012 Here:

http://www.imvu.com/catalog/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpbb2&file=viewtopic.php&t=421200&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

This problem started in March if anyone cares. See some of the other posts HERE:

http://www.imvu.com/catalog/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpbb2&file=viewtopic.php&t=419144

I wouldn't guarantee anyone is fixing anything. I've had a support thread open for a couple of weeks now and even though I thoroughly explained the problem I have been told to install the current version (which obviously doesn't work because of the loop error). I have also been told to use an alternative computer - which at this point in time I don't have available to me.

Its seems those of us experiencing are being told to sink or swim. We either live with not using an older version of the client or we upgrade/purchase new systems.

Personally I feel ripped off that I am not able to access IMVU's newer features. As someone who has been a paying IMVU customer for several years now I am disappointed I cannot use the same services that someone with a guest account can use just because they have a newer system.

Hopefully something will be done about this problem, surely it is only a matter of time before IMVU updates become too advanced for users' systems to run.

Yes I am, an Asus Eee PC running Win XP and I believe it would be somewhere between 3-5 years old as well so I believe you have hit the nail on the head in relation to this issue.

Still being told to update to the latest version by IMVU staff -head desk-
Don't think they are working on a fix at this time.

This will prolly fix you for the moment...

http://static-akm.imvu.com/imvufiles/installers/InstallIMVU_462.18.exe

It is the Graphic Chipset causing the problem. This *was* to be fixed but not yet even on 472.2 IMVU Update 472.0 stated it fixed this for some users, but unfortunately not. . .

Ps> No Music Streaming in Mixes and No Create Mode until they fix it. . . :/

I just saw this in the New Releases forum....

Varsha wrote:
Also as mentioned in the original announcement, we will be disabling client versions 466.0 and below on May 31st. After that day, all users will be required to use IMVU's 3D chat version 467 or above.

The days are numbered for the version that was provided as a temporary fix Sad
