voice chat

When I joined here and paid for ap and my name, there was a voice chat function, and I liked that. For ap, in your own private room it was safe and an adult option. I am not happy that you removed it. I know it was a safety issue for minors, but minors can't have ap. So ap people should have been allowed to keep it. Please consider reinstating voice chat for AP people. Thanks. Angel

It wasn't because it was a safety issue for minors. VC was removed simply because there was NO WAY for anyone to report anything, and more importantly it was a vastly underused feature that cost IMVU far more than it brought them. From a strictly fiscal standpoint it would be suicide for them to bring it back, and thankfully they have been quite clear that they won't.
If you really need to hear voice while on IMVU there are a plethora of existing services you can use alongside the client, all of which have far better quality than IMVU ever had.

Well then imvu mods in the welcome room are wrong, as it was them, Celtic and Death who said it was a safety issue for minors! Don't shoot the messenger. I don't want to use other chat options, I wanted imvu chat that was there when I signed up for imvu. I never asked b4 now because I was waiting patiently for them to 'sort it out ' and bring it back, as I thought it was just another blip or bug to iron out etc.
Your opinion is not necessarily everyone else's, so it's thankful for you maybe, but not for me, that they are not bringing it back Smile

It wasn't just a safety issue for minors but it was the major factor it was a safety issue to all users and the fact that only 3% of the users used it. Alsdo IMVU didn't run the feature it was provided at cost to IMVU by another company and it was extremely buggy as well as widely abused.

In this case, The Mods in the room and Cryptic are both correct. Yes it was for the safety of minors, but it was also for the safety of everyone. Just for the simple fact that you had way to many people not using the service in a mature manner.

If there is any truth to the announcement that Cryptic was mentioning, and IMVU was being honest in the fact that it was under used. I think the announcement said less than 3% of the community was using it. Why would IMVU even want to keep a service around that was more of a burden on their system than an aid?

If I recall right, from reading what other users have said, the Voice Chat software that IMVU was using wasn't of their own design, and they were just borrowing it, or paying for it, or whatever it may be. Think about it from a financial point of view for a moment, and think about what IMVU is about. Now put yourself in those shoes just for a moment.

Lets say you had a business and you were renting a building. Would you really want to keep your business open if the number of customers you had were just enough to pay the bill every month, with no chance for a financial gain? Voice Chat was in the same boat as the above scenario, not enough people were using it, to make it even worth the cost in keeping it going. When there are plenty of other sites and software out there that users could still use, and it wasn't costing IMVU a dime for those users to use the other services.

Just to touch on another thing in what the OP has said..

I have said I understand the reasons, but I choose not to use other methods, I am cautious about which sites to trust, and stick to what i know. So it's not coming back, ok, I get it people. I don't have to like it though do I. So maybe they shouldn't have used another company /service in the beginning, I always assumed it was just their own chat function.
I am happy for you all that you are happy that it's never coming back, and we don't need any more inputs thanks, as there's only so many ways you can all say the same thing. :p I don't use Pulse, and won't be doing either.

I came here today on advice from the aforementioned, as I wanted to know if voice chat would be coming back, but as we know , IT ISN'T , it's gone, dead, the end, I get it, ok i got it, it's not coming back. Just users like anyone else.

Skype is safe as far as I know, and a lot of my friends use it, because it provides good quality, and free. I think you can pay for it as well for additional features. Kind of like how IMVU is lol.

I hear & understand why they took it away, it was just more convenient in private chat, to get from my clients what they need custom, or plan a event... I tried ventrillo I believe it was, & I got a virus that shut my system down for months...

Although I know there is no hope for it coming back, I really wish that IMVU made their own, JUST FOR PRIVATE CHAT. Public rooms may not .. like they had it right before they took it all away..

From a fiscal stand point what they did was right, but I signed up for IMVU for the voice chat, and now it is gone.

(I am glad it is from public rooms & sad it is gone from Private)

Actually there are ALOT of minors that have ap. In most cases its another IMVU user that buys it for them. In other cases they use a card belonging to another. There was many reasons vc was removed not just do to minors but the constant abuse. There was no way to report a chat or police the chat.

If voice chat was costing them too much, they really should allow it for AP users (even if its just in private chats) that way more people might buy AP which would give them money as well as knowing that its only used in private so no one can complain about being harassed on it ... sounds simple right?
