I don't know if there is already a topic out there about this, truth being told I'm kinda too lazy to search through the forums, but please, let there be a way so outfits won't be saved automatically. It's annoying to have pictures of your avatar being half noob with something on that you have just bought. Just... Annoyance. Thank you :].

I swear you can tick it off somewhere..
But yes, this would generally be useful.

The only place you can tick off automatic saving of outfits is in the Shop on the client, when you buy something.

I totally support this suggestion, especially since, at one time, it never used to save outfits automatically.

You can tick to turn it off in shop, however I'd rather have it turned off by default.

I'd love this. It's so... icky seeing my avatars in a default pose. In fact, it's like seeing Batman in a pink costume. Just hurts the heart man.

I hate the fact that it automatically saves pictures to your album. I'm constantly deleting them and it can sometimes be so time consuming.

It's one of the reasons I don't use or display my albums.

I probably wouldn't use it anyhow, as I find the way the whole thing works is one big pain.

The photo has to be saved somewhere in order for it to render in the "Saved outfits" area, so we can view the image. Kinda like when you save your logo for a product page or Forum post (see mine below) in a image storage site, like Photobucket, then you add the HTML to the product page. The image HAS to be stored somewhere, right? So the Saved outfits is loaded with the image URL that is created in our Album. There's no way around it, sorry.

Yo. Yes, I understand that. I get around the limitations of the various sites that let you store photos by paying about $250 a year for near unlimited server space. (Not just for the imvu - I do web pages for a few friends, and set up a few select friends with an uploader script so they will have a convenient place to store photos. Two of these are developers who use it. I will never use all the space I have for myself).

My mp3s, and other stuff I use on my HP are all up there also. I love the freedom it gives me. In addition I bring some stuff from there to my HP in iFRAMES, so I can limit the space it takes up there. My own slide show at the HP can handle any sized pictures I wish to put up. Most of the free picture sites will truncate your image to some maximum size.

Okay, done beating my own drum. (grin)

I wonder why IMVU isn't doing that Confused It sounds like a logical and practical thing to do.

I'm sure they do. They have to either run their own servers or rent them. The problem with IMVU is the programs they install there to do various things - witness their photo album thing.

Also, the IMVU user base is so large that everything like photos have to be kept small to save on server space. Increase the size of the photos and they have to pay more rent, or increase the capabilities of their servers - if they run their own.

Forums I set up typically allow 300x400 pixel av pictures. Much nicer then IMVU's 160x220.

You are wrong Michelona, about there being no way around it. When creating outfits was first implemented, the pics were not saved into the gallery. This happened way later. Many people complained about their AP outfits saving into their albums for all to see, making them have to rush to their gallery and delete them. So, imvu eventually made the default album private, but didn't bother to stop the annoying outfit pics going in there.

"Wrong" is a pretty strong word Smile I prefer "mistaken" and I was. My friend Ben already explained that to me, but thanks adding that info about how things used to be. Admittedly I have not been on IMVU as long as most. But I enjoy learning as much as I can. Smile
