This has come up so many times, but there are rooms where people want Furries only or Gays only or women only. so what? there are plenty of rooms where you can find people that share the same interest.
But if deathlord343 has rules clearly stating that 'type of members only' room, perhaps it's okay to remove someone. But he said that 'if the person did nothing wrong'. That there says there were no rules violated.
I would say it's abusive to do so. If you don't want people in your room but your friends, you can keep it private and give them the link. _________________

In a way that is the point..
there ARE rooms, many or them.. where as you say people want 'furrys only' or Gays only or women only.. and if those rules are to be respected then it must also work in the opposite direction..
i have not seen one actually written this way, but i do know of a Christian 'church' room where the fundamentalist room owner will cast out gays and lesbians simply for being gay / lesbian.
in fact it might surprise some people to know this, but since i am NOT in the habit of going to places that i do not belong, i have only been booted twice in nearly 5 years of living in IMVU, and one of those times it was a Christian 'church' room where the room owner suddenly said.. "You're lesbian?" then booted me.
In mai opinion the room owner did no thing wrong.. apparently me being there was a violation of his church dogma and his faith in Old Testament law and those are his choices and i absolutely respect them.
It would have saved both of us some trouble if he had been brave enough to write 'no gay / lesbian allowed' in his room description. i actually read room descriptions before i decide to enter a public room.
If it is allowed to have gay only rooms, then straight only rooms should be equally allowable.
If there can be furry only rooms or women only rooms then there can be 'no furrys allowed' or 'men only' rooms too. It is only being fair.
The trouble with only using private rooms for clubs is the obvious one.. public rooms allow club members to come and leave as they choose, instead of needing to be invited in at only a certain time when the room owner is there to let them in.
We can not just decide suddenly stop having public clubs or cliques or group rooms in IMVU. That really would not be fair to any one. _________________ i have NO interest in any unhealthy alternative to an actual lifestyle. |

People must learn to respect the rules of a room. If only a specific group is mentioned and you are not part of that group... then you don't go in.
I have one room that is invite only. People who enter the room will be booted. No matter who they are. But I do have the cutesy to ask, if they will leave since it is a private area. If they don't leave.. I boot. Why don't I use it as a hidden room? Very simple, the ones that may enter, can not see if I am in the room or not. This way they can see it. We can always decide later on to still hide the room or go to the pc. |

i agree.. room rules must be respected.
And if those rules seem unfair to you then that should be a warning sign that you really do not want to be with those people at all ne? Or support the room owner by visiting their room.
A really common problem i seem to have is that people say they did not read the rules.
i write mine in the room description. Many people post them on signs inside.. for some of mai public rooms i have a sign inside too..
But they only work if people read them..
Some people come in just because they want to argue with the room rules??
They seem to be the most likely people to file a complaint for being booted too.
i see public rooms with no description.. i think those room owners are making a mistake. It looks like the room owner is hiding the intent of their room.. or it says some thing pointless like IDGA*..
Chaos makes a room interesting for trolls i guess.. _________________ i have NO interest in any unhealthy alternative to an actual lifestyle. |

r u talking to me? just wondering
cause being booted isn't my beef... lol
IMVU is. smile
I could care less about being booted
way too many clubs u can go to to care about being booted.... smile |
Nope, I was talking to the OP.
Who has now gone silent for some reason . . .
Le gasp. |
If you mean me, I've gone silent because I've been away from the computer from some time and unable to check the thread until now, but I have no quarrel with you. I'm not being butthurt, personally I don't care if I'm booted, but it would be nice to actually have a reason as to why someone booted me. The suggestion was made purely for people who enjoy abusing their boot power. |

sadly, some people do not read the room description or the room rules, and as this happens they break them pretty easily. Some people which do so ruin it for others and give an excuse of, 'oh its only just a game' amongst many other excuses for their behaviour.
of course when people are disrespecting or just being well, you know.. then we thank imvu for giving the power of boot.
for then this person to message being all, 'why did u boot me?' it shows that they don't even see their clear ignorance; i don't think that we should have a full thing made where you message them to say why. if it was an accident then yes, understandable.. but to someone who just doesn't have the common decency to be within the same room then why?
its gonna be just another glitch, and something else for us to complain on im sure.

IMVU qualifies as a chat program, as a social network, and as a virtual community, but IMVU does NOT actually qualify as a 'game'.
We have no life points, gain absolutely no bonus from attacking others, and the 'experience' we can earn by interacting with others here is only life experience in human nature. And because of the content that IMVU chooses to allow here, some times that human nature is of the worst kind.
We are NOT the SIMs, NOT World of Warcraft..
We are very real people here, and the people who do think of IMVU as a 'game' all too often think of you and me as just being pieces of that game for them to play with.
They actually ruin the chat experience for as many other people as they can. Among those people are found the perverts and sexual predators who see us as their toys to be used and discarded.
They misunderstand IMVU, and have absolutely no respect or consideration for any one else here and IMVU would be a much better place i think if they made the point clear in their own advertising that this is NOT just Barbie dress up for adults. _________________ i have NO interest in any unhealthy alternative to an actual lifestyle. |

| If they disrespect someone or keeps being rude , to others , I understand booting. but for just not liking someone .. I think having a suggestion added to why .. is a good idea. |

Thumbs down, not needed, and it's a situation where I feel I don't have to explain myself _________________
