UPDATE on Page 19
Hanging out in chat rooms with their friends is one of the most popular activities our customers enjoy in IMVU. The room owners decorate their rooms to show off their creativity and the diversity of furniture and scene items available in our virtual catalog. So what can make this experience even more exciting? What if you could link multiple rooms together and folks could travel between them through “portals” or doors? Well, that is exactly what our team has developed and added to the latest version of our 3D chat experience.
The feature has been introduced in our latest pre-release 465.40 and will be part of our next full release (466.0).
How do portals work?
Portals are very easy to use and add to your rooms for linking multiple rooms together. Portal s can be added to any furniture item in your room. The new portal tool is located in the furniture tools set. Simply click on the portal tool and then hover over the furniture item you want to turn into a portal. The portal node will be distinct and placed at the base node of the furniture.
Select the destination for that door using the menu options. You can choose any public room from the list of your favorite rooms, rooms you own or have recently visited. Save and you are done! You can now view the portal node on that furniture item along with the name of the room it links to.
Use portals to link a private room to a public room or a public room to another public room. A public room can however not lead to a private room.
It’s also quite easy to delete the portal from a furniture item or change its destination. Simply click on the portal node and edit.
We look forward to your comments, questions and feedback as you use this beta version out. We are enthused about the endless possibilities portals bring to the way our community plays and enjoys IMVU!

Deleting a portal does nothing but close the dialog,
Changing a portal to another destination does nothing even is you click Save _________________

I am not able to reproduce this. Can you try again and report here if you continue to see this issue?

ok after some time i realized you can only add a portal to a furniture item if its unlocked first
even so, locked or unlocked, Deleting the portal does nothing but close the dialog, doesnt remove the portal, even after reload the room
added two more portals,
they arent there, reloaded the room,
still not there
and if i go to the same place with the portal tool, it doesnt show that theres already a portal there, it asks for a new portal
stalk me if you wanna come see if the portal is visible for you _________________

The added portal shows the name of my public room with the cute lil icon but clicking on it doesn't do anything at the moment. No jumping to my public room at all.
I added a second portal and the screen froze then I jumped to my default room and not the portalled room I had selected. Also the cute little portal icon has also followed me to my default room. Clicking on it doesn't do anything, trying to delete it doesn't delete it.
Closing and opening the default room shows that the portal link has vanished. Off to try the main room again to see if the portal link is still there.
LOL I was about to say, "Bravo! it's worked". I spoke to soon. The portal room opened and then the client crashed and vanished.
Ok! logged back on and opened my room. Clicked on the portal again (got very excited) saw the new chat box open with Seer Sanctuary written on it and poooof. Client crashed and vanished again.
Third time I logged back on after the crash, loaded up my room and clicked on another portal link to my public room and again crashed. I'm off to take a break. _________________

I'm not even gonna touch this one but what I find really sad is when someone or a company snags an idea from one of its users and doesn't even give them the proper credit. Go ahead and ban me or warn me for this comment but everyone knows how true that is. _________________

SO they can link to any room that is public:
I wonder if the owner does not want that done for some reason, can they decline to have their room linked to someone elses?
Shouldnt they have permission to link to a different persons room ? _________________ ♥All Love REBEL♥

Thanks for the feedback so far. We are monitoring. This is definitely in its testing phase but we wanted our community to test it out. _________________ Varsha - Sr. Manager Community Experience |
