|
|
We have just released the latest version of IMVU’s 3D Chat. You can download the latest version 466.0 here. We hope you enjoy the Portals feature added to the chat room experience, as well as the new styling for the furniture nodes for easy identification of obscured and non-obscured nodes. You can find more information about the portals feature here.
In addition, our team has made some changes to the way 3D products and scenes work in IMVU to make the experience better for our community. As a result, we expect some products to not work as they did in earlier versions of the 3D chat. We are contacting all IMVU developers so that they are aware of these changes and know how to revise their products so you can continue to enjoy them. We wanted you to know about these changes as well.
1) Products with Particle Effects
Our recent changes to the coordinate system for our 3D products have affected some of the products that utilize particle effects. As a result, you will see such products being misaligned (a sparkling wand appearing away from the hand, etc.) We’re communicating an easy way to fix these products to all the Creators.
2) Products with texture/scroll animations
To make the 3D experience consistent for all users with all types of computer systems, we have made texture animation speed independent from framerate. This is how avatar animations work as well. These changes will allow everyone to experience animations at the same rate, regardless of computer speed. As a result, some products created to achieve a certain visual rate on a lower framerate computer will now animate at the rate they always have on faster computers. This unfortunately means that for slower computers, these animations will appear faster than they did before. The products that were intended to have a slower animation speed for aesthetic reasons and appear fast on slower computers will need to be updated by the developers. We are communicating this requirement to all Creators.
3) Special-sized avatars
Special sized avatars – (slender, tiny, very tall, etc.), may appear deformed due to the changes made to scaling and vertices. Again, we are contacting the creators of these products with instructions about how to revise their products so the avatars appear just as before.
Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused to our users and Creators in the short-term due to these changes. We are, however, confident that in the long run these changes will make the IMVU experience better for the entire community.
Thank you! _________________ Varsha - Sr. Manager Community Experience

You bastards.
Because you decide to add a stupid pointless feature, we now have to spend hours fixing thousands and thousands of products.
THANKS A FLIPPING LOT. _________________

How good of an idea is it to add flag buttons to shop mode while our products stop working properly and it isn't even our fault? _________________ Lord of the Rings group | Findarato |

Apparently, even though we got a heads up, there wasn't any true notifications with the meshers to have the fixes prepared? Really? _________________

Oh great, more Good news, (NOT), Now instead of being able to just work in the creator we have to spend time from creating to repair your errors, gee another great idea that will take away our time from deving up to IMVU's demands. Why do they not focus on what needs fixed before breaking more to fix?

Please dear developers,
Just hand them example PID's to which products don't work properly now or are now broken. Let's see what can be fixed first and than start the complaint wave ok?!?
We all know IMVU was, is and will be build right under our feet, this includes changes that ask for adaption, and also changes that come with good progresses. IMVU is not here to bully us or hand us extra work for nothing.
Let's just team up as we always did and make IMVU work even better.
Good luck to all, MisterWhite |

I don't understand why it is so important to try to tweak settings that seem to work fine and in doing so messing up possibly hundreds of thousands of products.
Short term issues? Are you freaking kidding me? I do believe it is going to take some time to get every creator to fix every problem, then you have the creators who no longer create here and those you all drove away years ago. I see this as a serious long term problem.
This is going to be another huge outcry with users across the board. I am not seeing a great experience that your company is boasting about. However
we are all going to be experiencing something, it's called stress.
So, for a better understanding on why creators have to go and repair tens of thousands of products, can you tell us what exactly is making us have to do so?
I need a better understanding of what is going on here. And because of the massive work ahead for the creators of this site, I believe we all deserve an answer.

That's a lot of PID's to go through. _________________
