Effective immediately, we have added a new way for IMVU users to find new friends to connect, chat and play with. You will see a new panel titled "Make Friends" on your homepages as well as account pages. The feature was rolled out gradually to all IMVU users since Monday afternoon and is now available to everyone.
The panel will display avatar names of IMVU users that we think you may want to reach out to and make friends with. From here, you can view their avatar profile card and/or visit their homepages to get to know them better or simply send them a friend request by clicking on the "Add Friend" button. The View More option will let you be more selective on who you want to see in the list of your potential friends.
The new panel will appear in the upper right corner of your homepages unless you have customized your homepages and have hidden all panels. When displayed, the panel will only be visible to you. You can go to your Account Settings to set visibility of this panel.
For your account pages or dashboards, the panel will appear above the Inbox and Pulse tabs.
We hope you enjoy this easy way to find new friends on IMVU! After all, chatting with friends, hanging out with them in chat rooms, sharing your favorite items from the catalog and playing games is what makes the IMVU experience fun and exciting.
We will continue to work to enhance this feature to make the selections more relevant for you based on shared interests, activities and friends.

SOOO, we get rid of the useless chat now which was actually seperate from the rest, no longer in the way we could opt to shut it off. Now we have this mess on our page. Not to mention your tryin to suggest for me people I would like to meet. SMH well I am a woman who loves women and every name is a guy. AND what if I have myself unsearchable... am I still or is my AVI name on however many thousands of meet friends panels???? SMH. You took away chat now , why add this mess. Makes no sense. Let people use the seacrh if they want that. Let them go to public rooms to meet people... walks away shakin my head

| went to check my messages and there was an avi display pic blinking so rapidly I had to exit out! This is useless, unfair, and just plain mean to make us look at these people to get to our messages! |

just another way imvu is trying to snag the facebook collect as many "friends" as you can, concept. Today along in the 13hrs since i have noticed this stupid feature i have had to ignore 38 friend request from people i dont know!!! all im gonna say thankyou for effing up my hp layout with this stupid panel and a HUGE Thank You to

1: Download the AdBlocker Plus extension for Chrome or Firefox
Chrome: http://adblockplus.org/en/chrome
Firefox: http://adblockplus.org/en/firefox
2: Once downloaded, find the options and add the filter:
fr.imvu.com###make-friends-panel
If that filter doesn't work, add "###make-friends-panel" as well.
3: Click OK and refresh the page!
Sidenote: Does not work in Opera.
I did this and that ugly panel is now gone (i have firefox)

Varsha,
- There needs to be a way for users to opt out of seeing this and/or having their avatar pictures displayed.
- There needs to be a REPORT ABUSE link next to each displayed avatar picture in "Make Friends." There is plenty of room ... and plenty of current abuse!
- Anyone who has a confirmed avatar picture violation should be automatically opted out of this feature by IMVU! (And probably anyone who has had a confirmed avatar picture violation from the past year should be opted out as well!)
Leaving off a basic safety feature doesn't make sense when FORCING us all to view these inappropriate images.

opera should have userscripts functionality so they can use my script instead to remove it at loadtime, Google chrome also have userscript support. the other browsers needs an addon to make it work

the script will run after page have been loaded so you will have to cope with less than a second showing the make friends annoyance

NO, NOT just for vip! We don't want it either! Vip has enough perks. I DO not want to see rapidly flashing avi pics on my messages, I DO NOT want to see womans boobs on my messages. Darnit, just take it off!! |

I noticed this and also it was showing the same people in the Cool New People section. 2 pictures in different panel's of the same avi. Redundant I say.
Actually think it is just a way for the stalkers to harrass people even more. What about all the Hackers? I don't add kid's as friend's and all I see is young kid's in the new panel.
I guess I will just hide both section's.

How about working on disabling it instead since everyone is against it.Not to mention the introducing kiddies to adults,the UFI Avi DP.The constant adding of people who I wish not to be friends with.Its really nice to see adult material pics to show up while my 16 yr old son is using my computer.My IMVU front page,IMVU.com(not home page) is my default for my browsers.3 times last night he showed me the atrocity you people have allowed.Shall I go even further and say that IMVU is breaking its own TOS.The feature that IMVU brainlessly added yesterday can get you in alot of trouble.GET RID OF THE MAKING FRIENDS FEATURE!
