| I was going to complain but since the KB limit on the "My Account" page was raised to 200kb then I'm fine with it. |

I'm looking at all these posts. "Oh, I'm so happy!" Do you understand that they are NOT giving u anything? They have only taken away once again. 160x220 isn't enough to work with. If u are taking away one option, why not increase the size limit back to 800x600. "We appreciate that our users sometimes prefer to use the forum profile option to upload larger sized images. So, we have increased the file size limit for the second, Account Settings option to 200 KB. This will be implemented shortly." That increase doesn't help us create larger images. Get it together people. Start standing up. IMVU is just taking ur money and don't care about what u think. Just like this escrow/credit pend. _________________

How was 800 x 600 picture size beneficial anyway, when they always reduced the size back to 160 x 220 like it always has been displayed in the site? Unnecessarily big pictures which won't show as big would only cause slower loading time, so I'm not sad about them going.
200 KB is beneficial, however, for animated GIFs. I can take the loading time for them.
I hardly load pictures bigger than 50 KB though, because I always use JPEG as optimized format. Even in 100% quality it does wonders for both quality and loading time.
I say that we lost nothing. _________________

It was beneficial because I was able to add more elements to it. My target size was 436x600. If u look at my avi pic, regardless of the resize, it still looks great because of the initial upload size. Limiting me to 160x220 doesn't give me room to do what I do. While you are content with taking pics in a room and just slapping ur name on it. I am a graphic artist and require more detail. _________________

Regarding the slow loading time. That has nothing to do with Avatar pictures. That has everything to do with IMVU not wanting to give more bandwidth and adding unnecessary changes to the client and website, but again, taking away something that works. _________________

If you know how to make images 200KB is more than enough for you to get your avatar picture uploaded with all the image optimization options out there you can surely get it a big picture in when optimized properly.
Look at my own display picture, it's the standard 160x220 and it was less than 50KB and it's edited not just something "I took in a room and slapped my name on it." To me you're making a moot point because edited pictures can be within the 160x220 and 200KB limit... _________________ ▪ DP by Poisonous

you do know u can always just do the pic in then picture editing software you would then make it to the size imvu uses but up the res aka with photoshop if you do it 200 res size 600x800 whe u make it to 160x220 then up the res to like 400 and it works just fine its not the uploading that keeps the quaity |

I understand where ur coming from...but the size of the pic really didnt matter to me...160x220 is enough size to just showcase your avi pic. I ran into a problem of keeping the number of KB's low enough to upload, because of custom avi pics. So, Yes...Im very excited that they didnt just take this away altogether...They moved the feature to your account settings and added more KB's. This is very beneficial to me...because I love editing my avi pics. |
