This is why I made the sticker, I whole heartedly agree with this statement. |
I couldn't agree more. I know there's a lot of bullying around especially for those who have guest names but come on.. it's not their fault. _________________

Eamxu :
Greetings,
It is true, what you said. Most cyber-bullying sadly done by VIP or Non-Guest_ accounts toward people with Guest_ accounts. I have seen it many times, and you will be suprised that some of these Guest_ who stated in their Imvu profile as 18 are actually as young as 10 years old. Normally what can I do to help them is to let them be in my Imvu room (as most of them don't know how to role-play and will be an easy target to some users who considered themselves as "strict RP-ers" when actually they are just plain selfish by threathening these teens). As I also rolled with some T1 fighters (RP-ers) who will lend their help anytime, this is the way that I see can actually prevent cyber-bullying especially among young teens (where can help in providing "virtual protection"). I hope that most people will do the same, one is not strong against a herd |

This has happened to me, and a lot of friends. I'm a good sport, I allowed one of my characters to be killed off, I even agreed to change my character.
But I was told repeatedly to change my name :I
Not everyone has that kind of money, and, even if I did, no.
I feel sad because I know some people who disabled their account or actually changed their name.
What happened to roleplaying being fun, and not stressful? _________________

The 'you must change your user name' rule stems back to the days of AOL's RhyDin and there is was perfectly okay because on AOL you are allowed up to seven screen names at a time and can change any of them for free at any time. IMVU is different. It costs money, money people don't have. You can't apply old AOL rules to different services. |

I think that's stupid. In one roleplay room - died
Other, TOTALLY unrelated - happy with grandchildren
Now, different
2 characters on one account - My account name isn't even named after any of my characters.
Are people seriously like this? I'm only 16 but I'd never do something so stupid as harassing someone for a bullsh!t game. I'm not gonna change my effing name every time a character dies, JUST because it's gone. I have better things to waste my REAL money on - like credits, yaoi doujins, cosplays, and art supplies - not a name change for a fricken site that has nothin' to do with my characters.
Do people SERIOUSLY act like this? I always went by the, "Your screen name describes you; NOT your character."
And if I find any people like those you've described, I swear I'm going to flame them like hell. |

Sadly cyber harassment doesn't just happen in rp. Because of that there are certain things that all users need to know about harassment. If you are facing harassment please make sure to read the Harassment:What to do? thread in the Common Questions and Solutions forum and the information that can be found in the Safety Link that can be found at the bottom of every IMVU page. _________________ CandyApple or PoisonApple, Which would you choose? |

| Ive been using Imvu for a few years now, mostly for rp in the beginning, then a little rp, little chatting, and a little creating off and on. I know theres always been drama on here, both rp and ooc but i took a bit of a break for a few months and just recently came back and boy was i amazed. There was a bit of drama in a rp i just started in where i blocked some people for "force collaring" with a nice litte ooc note to let them know why i blocked them and would not rp with them anymore because of my personal issues with that particular practice. Next thing I know i had "assasins" and alternate accounts of theres dogging my every move for days trying to kill my character off ect and telling me they where going to report me to IMVU and have my account deleted for Godmodding ect. I didnt believe it for a sec and my bock button got used quite often but I know i had some friends who where freaking out and crying in RL because they thought if they couldnt affort to change their name Imvu was going to disable them..I had a few that actually though IMVU would disable your account period if you got killed in rp and would not even let you change your name. They were frantic. It amazed me that someone actually thought that could happen. Or that these so called rpers thought that it was okay. I ran accross this thread, i didnt even notice till today that IMVU had put up a thread for rps haha tells you how far behind ive been. Its good to see that someones standing up against the BS. |
