Those images are animated .gifs

You can find any number of tutorials online. Just search "animated gif" and the name of your image editing application:

"animated gif photoshop" or "animated gif GIMP"

I taught myself how to do this in an afternoon... before I discovered this is not how IMVU products are animated. For that, see Keef's excellent tutorial.

I use a program called Photofiltre, you create layers, which will be your "animation frames" and pretty much animate them on Photofiltre to move. You can also use Lunapic. If you have all the layers made you can animate them on that website.

I use Adobe Image Ready for my .gifs.
Remember that IMVU has rules about how fast images can blink--it's in the TOS.

If you don't have the correct software, you can use a generator on a website.

I used to use Photoshop, but I made very basic .gifs so I started using this website www.makeagif.com It's faster if you're not going to make an elaborated gif.

yes, like they said it all depends on the program that you use. I use a mix of Gimp and photoshop, there are plenty of tutorials to teach you animations for both programs. It can be hard to understand at first, but if you need any help, let me know. ;D

First, I know nothing...
But, I use MWSnap 3 to take photos of products and inmport them to GIMP.
MWSnap can be Googled and it's free. You set size of phot so getting the right "Icon" size is easy.
Use Gimp to stack photos for your GIF. But, like already mentioned look up tutorials on Gif and only takes a few minutes.
Good Luck!
