I'd love to be able to make some anyskin accessories for my furry outfits.

However, I'm really rather new at this. I've never made anything ._. So I'd need a step by step. I know how to find a deriveable item, and get into the creator mode to add my own texture, just not...where/how to change it to anyskin.

Thanks

Just search for "anyskin derivables"

By accessories do you mean tails & ears?

Anyskin items are made on the mesh making level. If you are the mesher of the items you can turn them into any-skin items by changing their martial assignments and UV mapping.

I have no idea what that means Keef ._.; I've never made anything before.

miamew: Yes, and paws. I haven't seen many I quite liked though, but I'll keep looking.

It wont make sense unless your familiar with meshing. The stuff that needs to be done to make an item function as an anyskin have to be done when the mesh is made.

building on what Keef said... if you have items that you would like to be anyskin you may want to talk to the original mesher and see if they will make one that is anyskin for you.

I've seen items not introduced to catalog as anyskin, that texturers have derived and sold as anyskin.

I'm sure the anyskin product was made available at the meshing level, but are there any settings that a texturer use in order to check for the capability?

no, its has to be changed on the xmf file. The material assignment needs to be set to a specific number and the item needs to be uv-mapped like the skin.

Its possible the anyskin derives are not using the skin at all, such as layered tattos and such. Things like that are just a mesh layer, they are not using the skins texture at all so they will work with any skin and are often marketed as an 'anyskin' but they are not doing it as a set of ears, spikes or privates would need to.

As this has been coming up weekly for the last month Ive been working on a tutorial on how to turn a mesh into a any-skin, but it is a 3DMax tutorial, but for non meshers it should help shed the light on why its a mesh making thing. It should be going live in a week or so.

The only way I've found to trick the mesh into being anyskin without it being meshed as such is to use a fully black opacity and turn on skin composite.

However, the texture is going to grab whatever area of the body the map falls on top of, so you'll most likely just end up with a really ugly, stretched version of the body template over whatever part you are trying to make anyskin

You will need to ask in the 3D forum about meshing like that. You will more likely get an answer there then in here.
