I have a friend that kinda does that with her group but they don't video it or upload stuff to you tube. (probably cause there are god modders that do that with what they call kills that are void because it was god modding)
She let people spare in the room full of group members after so long she stops it and all the members in the room vote on a winner. From what she tells me it was a lot of fun but not good for those with lag issues. _________________ CandyApple or PoisonApple, Which would you choose? |

Yeah np . The lag thing is specially taken care of if there is a death match. The room is made light ( mainly the arenas are used for this ) and only 5 / 6 people are allowed in the room ie players and judges. If u play with avi around < 1000kbs , it helps u move faster. _________________

But I've seen times when, even at my lightest, posting order is different for me than it is for others... if someone shows me a log of the chat, he/she spoke out of order than what it looks on MY screen... because there is a lag.
How do you help that kind of lag for the kind of fight you're referring to? _________________

I think the text and action transmission are done separately by the client and the scenario of the order of chats getting changed mostly happens when there are too many people talking at the same time or if the someone's DSL speeds are fluctuating .. he will get a bunch of previously said things suddenly at one time .. thats how chats get misplaced.
In case of actions if some one gets lagged ... the player generally stands rooted and do not move at all for long periods and people would know something is wrong and the fight is generally re taken. However , from my personal experience , I have only seen such lags in heavy rooms only and never faced this in a light room with few people. ( even though the chat orders get misplaced the movements have remain unaffected. Also note : there is no chatting allowed within the 5 min of play of an important game because it causes distraction as well as lag )
Just like in any important match .. if there is a dispute , the neutral judges records videos and their words are generally taken as final. If the records show that such lag have existed , the match is rescheduled ( Its a 5 min match anyway so its not that time consuming to reschedule ) .

A little bit practice and this can be quite fun .. since we r discussing on different ways of RP fighting ... so, just thought I would add this style to the list as well so that more people are knowledgeable about it ... _________________

Now... its been a long time since I've done table-top role play, but I have come across some RP groups here on IMVU that use dice. Can anyone explain to me how this is done in online RP fighting here on IMVU? Is it an honor system, where you trust your opponent to tell you exactly what the numbers were? How does this work? Does anyone know? _________________

not sure but I think there are some that use an online dice site to do it. I've never seen it done on here, but I've also heard about it alot. _________________ CandyApple or PoisonApple, Which would you choose? |

I imagine if it is a group you roleplay with often enough you probably would trust their roles. A pattern would certainly emerge if someone was modding the rolls.
Otherwise I think there is a site you can log in to and set up a die roller which the rolls are noted and displayed for all to see.
I have never done it here, but I did do a game where we had a foot race and the Storyteller rolled to see who would be in the lead at various points. She would roll, tell us the placings and we would roleplay out the events leading to that.
Was anime style, so was funny when I went from 1st to 3rd. I ended up with my shoelaces coming undone, tripping on them and in the process tripping over another person that also got a losing roll and posted right before me (wasn't turn based, just good timing). _________________

Oh yeah..Invisigoth made one a few years back, but the problem with that stuff is that it shows a different number to each person (potentially).
I remember him talking about the problems he had with it.
Not sure if the technology on how IMVU handles it has improved to show the same result to each person in the room or not (or if specific die rollers were created). _________________
