Default Outfits/Managing Your Outfits:

For Chatting:
Go to the Dress Up tab in the client. This will set up the outfit that will appear each time you enter a new chat. You can preview this default chatting outfit on the Home tab.

After Reinstalling or Clearing Your Cache:
Go to your Manage Outfits page, and click on Settings. The first selection will ask you to 'Set a Default Outfit'. Select one of your previously saved outfits to use as the default on re-installing the client or clearing your cache. Remember to click the 'Set' button.

For Daily Outfit Contest Users: To create outfits with custom poses, type *saveOutfit into the chat bubbles, exactly like that with the "*" and the capital "O".

Avatar Picture Glitch (weird split image)

If your image taken in client looks split down the middle, with one half purple and green try this: right click on your desktop, go to properties, then settings and make sure it is set to 32 bit (and not 16). Click apply.

OR

Right click on your desktop, go to graphic properties, then display settings. Make sure it is set to 32 bit (and not 16). Click apply.

The request support tab gives only a login box.

This happens if your browser is blocking 3rd party cookies.
Check your browser settings and enable the 'accept 3rd party cookies' option.

In firefox this is found in tools-options-privacy

IE tools-internet options-privacy try setting the privacy to 'medium'

Coding Showing on Badge Banners/Badge Banner Links Not Working Correctly

5) Any HTML formatting you put in the name (title) of the badge will be removed for the mouse-over "tool tip" for badges on the avatar card.

Special Someone Goes Blank

If you have your own coding in the SS panel, if that user changes their avatar name the info will go blank. To fix you will need to add their name in manually, where you added the code.

Stickers Missing after Panel is Removed

1, Click on 'Account' in the top of almost any IMVU webpage.

2. Click on 'Manage Stickers' from the Account Tools panel.

3. Locate each sticker that is missing in the top panel, titled 'Manage Stickers'. You can also look them up individually by location. For example, those in your Stickers Panel will say '(stickers_panel)' under each sticker name.

3. Click each check box to select your missing stickers.

4. At the bottom of that panel click 'Hide selected stickers'.

5. Scroll down to bottom panel, titled 'Hidden Stickers'. Click to select all the stickers you just clicked.

6. Click 'Show selected stickers'. Do NOT click on 'delete selected stickers'.

7. Go to your homepage and look in your Stickers Panel, the missing stickers will be there.

How to Remove Disabled Users From Groups

To remove disabled users from Groups you must type their full name as it appears after they are disabled, including the number and the word "disabled".

For example, you would type all of this:

How Do I Opt Out of the Games or Stop the Messages?

You can remove yourself from a game from your Account Settings (click on 'Account' in the upper right hand corner of almost any IMVU webpage, next to the 'Sign Out' link). Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and under 'Games Preferences' you will see the options. 'Opt In' means you are in the game, 'Opt Out' means you are out of the game.

You can also opt out of receiving messages from a game from your Account settings page by clicking the 'Change Email Preferences' link under your account tools OR clicking 'Change your (game name) notification settings' at the bottom of the Account page and choose if and how you would like to receive game related messages. You can choose to not receive them at all or receive them as quick messages plus emails.

Not Receiving Email Notifications of Homepage Messages

Go to your Account settings by clicking on 'Account' in the upper right hand corner of this page. Locate the 'Account Tools' panel and click on 'change email preferences'. Check the 'Member communications' box to activate the email notifications.

This can become un-checked if you click the 'spam' button in Hotmail, Yahoo, or other accounts.

How Do I Opt Out of Fishdom or Stop the Messages?

EDIT - Fishdom and the other web based games have been removed.

To opt out of the Fishdom game access your Account Settings page, scroll down to the very bottom of the page and change the drop down to 'opt out'. Don't forget to update your preferences.

To opt out of Fishdom messages go to your Account Settings page and either click 'Change email preferences' OR scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on 'Change your Fishdom notification settings'. You can chose either 'none', 'quick message', or 'quick message & e-mail' for either invites or notifications.

IMVU Client Download/Update Failure.

Firstly if you are still having an older version of IMVU uninstall it before continuing with this solution.

1. Go to http://www.imvu.com/download.php
2. Look at the most current release, then click "Full installer" (Always use full installer)
3. Download as usual.
4. Install as usual.

Legend:
Ver.XYZ.00 = Current release
Ver.XYZ.(n) = Pre-release, used for testing new features


Full Installer vs Streaming Installer Clarification.

Full installer : downloads the client as a whole whereby you can choose to install at a later time

Streaming installer : Buffers the download into a temporary file, installs immediately.
Note: Streaming installers fail when you experience internet bandwidth issues. As the buffer hangs, the download fails as well.[/i]

How To Remove Names from Above Avatar Heads in Client

Go to Settings in the client (not your homepage settings). The button for this is in the top right hand corner of the chat window.

Under General you will see 'Display avatar names in 3d Scene', and you can check either 'Above avatar' or 'At bottom of 3D window'.

Messages Received Cut into Half

Long messages can occasionally get cut into half when it is opened in the login landing site, and in some cases in the home page too.

Client Crashes When Viewing Outfits

This normally happens when you have a buggy product among your outfits. This can be solved by deleting all your outfits.
(Note: Deleting your outfits does not remove an item from your inventory)

1. Since you cant access the clients to delete the outfit, go to IMVU Web Outfit Manager

2. Delete every outfit you see in that page.

3. Restart IMVU and clear the IMVU cache, this is to ensure any buggy product is removed from the cache. You can clear the cache by accessing the Settings from the client.
