i made a voice box, here's what i did:
1 - made individual recordings of each sound clip i wanted to include
2- recorded all those clips as .ogg files ( i forget the name of the program i used to do this, but try a search at download.com)
3 - named each file the same as the trigger word i wanted
find something to derive from - i used a pair of earrings, used an opacity map with all black so that would not show
then in the previewer, you just have to upload each file and assign the triggers.
here's what the action tab looks like in the previewer:

as for textures, sometime poeple post some here in the forums. i look on the net or sometimes scan things.
hope that helps _________________

|
|
Voice Boxes can carry a lot of K's if you don't do it right. So here are some tips for keeping the K-Bytes down. Regardless of what you do you will not be able to have more than 2 MEG in there (2,000 K-Bytes) that a imvu software limit, but that's a HUGE VB :
(1) SAMPLE RATE. Most sound editors (I use Goldwave but there are many others) will give you the option of selecting what sample rate to save at. (WMA files default to 44,000+). The higher the sample rate, the more K's you'll end up with. So CHOSE A LOWER SAMPLE RATE. For decent voice quality I would suggest not going any lower than 11,025, for decent music you will need a minimum of 22,050.
2) MONO v's STEREO. Again, Stereo uses more Bytes and in most cases Mono produces perfectly acceptable results for voice. So unless you have good reason not to, save the file as a MONO file.
3) TRIM OFF SILENCES AND NOISE. Each triggered OGG file is limited to no more than 20 seconds of sound. (OGG is a highly compressed sound file, like a WAV or a MP3, but more compressed) So, if the sound you want to trigger is longer than 20 seconds, get into your editor and delete leading and trailing silences. If that is not enough to get you under 20 seconds, you will have to delete spaces between words, usually just noise, but BE CAREFUL. Deleting spaces will change the "emphasis" in the words, so delete, then play, delete, play etc. When you are satisfied with the end result save it as an OGG file with a low sampling rate, in Mono...or stereo if you have to.
Have fun creating! |
