We’re very excited to introduce daopay, a new way to buy IMVU Credits in multiple countries without using a credit card. We know from your messages to CaryJay that more payment options in more countries is crucial, and the introduction of daopay on IMVU is one step towards fulfilling that need.

daopay is a new payment method that enables you to charge payments to your home phone bill. This new method will appear at check out for users who reside in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy (some restrictions apply), Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, and the USA.

It’s super easy to use. Simply click on the daopay button. You’ll see the daopay Payment Screen, and you will be asked to call a number and accept the payment. Daopay will confirm the payment, and the order will be complete when you see the “paid" message. You will be told in advance how long you will need to stay on the line (it’s normally several minutes).

One of the things we like best about daopay is that you don’t need to set up a separate daopay account or remember a password. And the Credits are delivered into your account instantly! What could be better than that?

Update: You can now use Daopay to purchase credits in Australia.

I had to test it and yup it's up and running, even got a coupon against another purchase of $30 or more but it is costly. It would definately be nice if the premiums were more comparible to the "market".

I tested it as well. Didn't work for my prepaid monthly cell phone, the number is apparently blocked.

That said duopay's customer service is fantastic. I had an answer within 6 hours, and we figured out the problem within 12 hours.

IMVU could take lessons.

Wow, a 900 number? And TWICE the rate of IMVU's normal rate? I can understand there being an extra service fee, after all Daopay has to make their money, but that's a little excessive, don't you think?

You might want to put a disclaimer up on the ordering page that MANY phone providers (especially cellphone providers) block 900 numbers from being called from their network. Of course, I can't speak for providers outside of North America because I don't know anything about them, but this is a common measure in both the US and Canada.

But as much as I might balk at using a 900 number for buying credits, I guess there was a demand for it, and from the sounds of it, you have people willing to pay such outrageous rates, so it's well within your right as a business to charge it.

Pagan - it means that it's a service provided by a 0900 number - who are allowed to charge you anything they like for using their service.

I wouldn't mind betting that if you contacted "Oftel" we would very rapidly find the UK would disappear from the list of Countries providing this service
