The end result is that at no set interval, the chat portion of the client simply stalls. This is the first time I've ever had any real issues with the program that I could not solve myself; I have done my best to eliminate my hardware and software before appealing to this board.

Update! Running the latest client, and I've half figured it out. The client actually runs very, very well. Animations are fast and the load is the lowest it has ever been. ....but the chat client stalls every time I stop the music stream. _________________ . |

I still can't get the dressing room to open. I get an error page every time. This is the part of the error message that may be pertinent here:
"...Do you have sufficient access permissions to the requested item?..."
I have both the latest Flash and Java updates.
My specs:
Microsoft Windows XP Home w/SP2B For system builders 2 pack - OEM
Video card: NVIDEA GeForce 7300 GT 1 TB
Ram: Corsair Value Select 1GB 240-Pin DDR SD Ram DDR2 667 (PC 2 5300) Desk Top memory model
Proccesor: AMD Athlon 64 Brisbane x2 4800 + Brisbane 2.5 GHz Socket AM2 65W DualCore
Motherboard: Biostar K8M800 Micro AM2 Via K8M 800 Micro ATX AMD
I have high speed internet cable access, and I use TrendMicro Pro.
Help? |

| I've loaded up version 408.0 for a while, however I have also been crashing a lot even after updating. Is there a way for me to find other versions to download and hopefully keep from crashing despite using a dial-up connection? |

Release Notes:
- IMPORTANT: In preparation for user interface improvements to come, we've moved the birds eye and room edit buttons. For an illustration of where they've gone, please see the post for 408.0 in the Latest News and Release Notes forum.
- Fixed various causes of crashes, which should be a significant improvement over 407.0.
- Performance optimizations that should increase framerate when using Direct3D rendering.
- Performance optimizations that should increase framerate when using Standard graphics rendering.
- Address some issues with inviting others to chat: use drop-down messages rather than dialog boxes.
- Reduce IMVU's memory footprint when using standard graphics mode.
- Implemented a new renderer setting, 'Standard graphics (fast)', which improves frame rate by 25-50% over Standard graphics, at the cost of visual fidelity.
- Fix some bugs related to the dressing room.
As always, please let us know what you think of 408.0. We're constantly working to improve the IMVU client, and your feedback helps us know what needs work.
So, where'd the buttons go?

Open the messenger buddy window, click the inventory tab, select Rooms and Furniture, select rooms ( or Locked Rooms ) select the room you would like to change to your default room, right click and from the drop down menu that appears, select 'Set as default room'.
That should do it.

OMFG, HAVE ANYONE ACTUALLY TAKEN A LOOK AT HOW MUCH SPACE IMVU TAKE UP ON YOUR FREAKEN COMPUTER?
I'm pretty piss because I lost a lot of space and had NO idea where it went, went to uninstall some things today in hope of getting some space back and realize IMVU takes up 5.44 gb of my pc, what the hell? NO chat client should take up that many space!
What the hell

It's not the IMVU program that's taking up all this space, it's its cache which is why it's different for each user depending on how many rooms they visit, furniture they add and outfits they wear and on the last time you cleared your IMVY cache or fully uninstalled the IMVU client (if ever).
So all you need to do is clear your cache once in a while by opening the IMVU buddy list and closing all chat windows, then click on Help > Tools > Clear IMVU cache.
The IMVU buddy list might stop responding for several minutes in your case because it needs time to delete the 5.GB since they would be around 115000 files _________________ Dark King Shadow |
