***Support Expectations: Any new project announcement will be monitored every hour over 48 business hours. Once a project announcement reaches 48 hours, the attention will be checked every 3 business hours until project reaches 72 business hours. After 72 business hours we check the thread ever 3 days until project is fully launched and we move onto a new project.***
Greetings everyone,
For quite sometime everyone has been concerned about audio files being created and entered into the catalog.
In about 2 weeks; this can change to 1 week, depending on implementation we will be launching this restriction. The primary reason behind this is due to the file size and bandwidth these products take up on our service. This needed to be addressed and we have been working on this for quite sometime.
From the day we launch this process on, anyone who submits an audio file to the catalog, will find that it will be cut down to 20 seconds. This will be for any audio file format (example: OGG File format)
This will not affect products already in the catalog, just new products submitted.
There are plans I will provide in the future on how those who create their own music may be able to submit their product to the catalog.

As I mentioned, if the product ID ( this is the key component ) is for an existing product, it is not affected by this change.

Technically you didn't mention it is only affected by product ID in the first post. Might be worth dropping it in.
Anyway. This is great news... which makes a change.

This is based on the PID from the day this launches, not all audio files in general. However yes, for those products created with an audio file attached, at 20 seconds the sound ends.

Your ability to submit an audio file is not being suppressed, however we are controlling the length of that file. As I mentioned this is to address the bandwidth these files have been taking, and in addition the issues which were created that affected the client and our users.
We are going to be looking at the possibility of providing the ability for owners of their music to submit to the catalog, at full length in the future. However when this process is launched, that will not be possible.

Ok so lets not begin asking what if's because that would be pointless to dismiss on every request. Let me touch on these questions.
1) You've stated all sounds will cease playing at the 20 second mark. All audio file formats? I used .ogg as an example, however yes all audio file types.
2) You've made mention that products will not play sound for more than 20 seconds. The answer is a little dodgy. Can a product contain several 20s audio clips and play all of them when activated? The answer isnt dodgy at all your asking a separate question here. The product itself even if you stack still looks at audio. So basically no, the system will still detect this and not allow anymore than 20 seconds.
3) Will this limitation of 20seconds still force a user to download the sound file beyond the 20 second? I.e. music files being added has 1 minute and user only hears 20 seconds. Does the user still have to download the entire file? (Cos, if this ain't looked into/fixed, IMVU will still be facing the bandwidth issues) No, the system when its submitted to the catalog will cut it off at that point.
4) Will audio flash clips be limited to 20 seconds? (pirates will grow smart, but let's take things one step at a time)
5) Will flash streamers be disallowed streaming for more than 20 seconds? That is a what if, this is only for audio embedded files, as I mentioned this does not affect flash players.
With regards to what is filling the void of all this music, I have no information to provide at this time.

Its not each sound file at 20 seconds, its any audio file/files and stopping at 20 seconds.
The system will detect Audio and once 20 seconds go by, it cuts the rest of it off.

More then likely any new products of that type when we launch this will not work as you created them.
