|
|
Hi folks,
This thread is if you have a pre-release numbered 401.2 or above.
If you have 401.0, you have a Release -- please post in the Release 401 thread.
========================
This week, we would like you to continue to do what you usually do. But I have some requests, too. Please check with this announcement as the week goes on for additional "assignments" (should you choose to accept them!) which will center around changes in the pre-releases and give you tips for posting.
Please:
(*) Try initiating chats in different ways: use "New IM", select a buddy and click "New IM", click "Group Chat", use "Chat Now", and, of course, our favorite, visit public rooms.
(*) If you find something not working as you expect, use the Tools in the Messenger (Buddy) window to "Send Logs" and give us a message.
(*) When you post here, please be specific: which room, which product, what were you doing before the issue occurred?
(*) Answer this question: Do you have more than one user on your computer -- and how many of them use IMVU when they login to the computer? If you have more than one user, what kind of permission do they have (Administrator, (XP) Limited, (Vista) Standard, Guest)?
=================
Currently available at:
http://www.imvu.com/download.php
401.10: http://static.imvu.com/imvufiles/installers/InstallIMVU_401.10_st.exe
- Fixed some crashes that could occur at startup.
401.8: http://static.imvu.com/imvufiles/installers/InstallIMVU_401.8_st.exe
- Fixed a bug where the \'Run on startup\' shortcut would not get updated to new install location. In other words, fixed the known issue from 401.6.
401.6: http://static.imvu.com/imvufiles/installers/InstallIMVU_401.6_st.exe
- Fix a crash in the client that can occur when the chat server goes down.
- Change where IMVU is installed so it does not require administrative access. This means that each user on the computer needs to install IMVU themselves in order to use it.
KNOWN ISSUE: The link which is invoked when starting up is not pointing at the new install location. As a result:
(a) under Vista, after you restart your computer, you will NOT be running the new prerelease; you'll be running the previous one which you had installed.
(b) under XP, or if you did a fresh install, you will get a "cannot find" error from Windows when you restart your computer.
- Make the out of memory dialog box work in more cases.
- Reduced the size of the initial installer.
- Fixed some freezes while loading products.
401.2: http://static.imvu.com/imvufiles/installers/InstallIMVU_401.2_st.exe
- Make behavior of window titles consistent across most types of chats.
==================
Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you!

ty Wen...
I left my post in last weeks post... I see it's locked now... I was going to correct my error in the version I was running... for the record as you know 401.2 added an extra one... sorry.
Can't wait to see exciting things.... better get them prereleases under control... the mob grow restless...
Edit.. Add:
Well I hit the chat now.. and ya know I'd only do this for test purposes..LOL it worked fine and I actually had a decent little conversion. LOL well what do ya know...
but another thing I noticed in the inventory bar... and I just updated my flash so that's not it... lol if the tabs under the public rooms, such as recent and favorites only work once... Actually if you press one then the other doesn't work... then if you go to the other, the one you were at doesn't work... only with those two tabs. Kind of like keef's interactive room... omg it's spreading.... LOL j/k
Also... all my favorites have been squashed it seems... this happens when I dl updates... I had some nice rooms in my favorites and now they're gone... WAH!
*waves at Giu, coaxes him off the horse and breaks his pitch fork ooops.

Picking up on some comments from last week's pre-release discussion:
Thanks very much for the product URL's. We'll check them out.
We disable pre-releases when we discover a problem which we want to solve, rather than continue on with it. If you use the magic direct URL for a disabled pre-release, then you could get an error. So check http://www.imvu.com/download.php to find out the most recent one for you to try out.
Yes, we are planning to change our install location going forward, as was noticed by the eagle eyes. A pre-release with that will be available (again) soon. |

For the tasks I preformed so far today, the version appears to be running good. The speed loading HPs seems like it is more efficient loading.
I just finished some Peer Review. I had 3 crashes. I will write the PID's below. They all occurred under the same circumstance. I was trying to opend the 3d window link. And I went boom.
PID 2431805
PID 1686717
PID 2379518
I emailed Rob about the 3 PIDs that crashed and attached some pix for him. |

Thanks. I'm sure Rob will check it out and get back to both of us.

I would like to know when there will be a working version out again? I backdated a few days ago, but was then stuck in the same room. Page versions of inventory will change clothes but not this room, so I tried once again to use the newer versions including this latest prerelease. Crashes the instant I open imvu. All rather tiresome and effectively stopping my intended return to developing. Is it a vista issue? _________________

I found I had to uninstall completely, and then RESTART my machine in order for it to completely flush the 401.* install. Otherwise I still had remnant issues from the broken client. I am not sure if this is a Vista problem exactly, but I hope that helps when rolling back.
Now to try this new pre-release and see if it crashes for me. _________________

This has happened since 401.0, I just tried 401.6, previously tried 401.2. Same problem in all.

I was under the impression this was 401.2 and up? If I am again in the wrong place I apologize. I have been running 401.2 along with my other account AntaresRose. Someone keeps putting my posts in the 401 thread. I am and have been running 401.2
The previewer quit working. I could no longer derive. So along with my other issues, I decided to unistall both client and previewer. I have them installed now, though I have not tried to derive.
I installed a completely new 401.2 from the link provided in this thread. I am going to try to derive again, I will advise if anything happens.
After clearing cache, rebooting etc, I should be fresh as a daisy. I did not have any trouble getting the client to run. It was just that my default outfit had no top, messy flesh texture and I had the biggest set of eye lashes I have ever seen except on here in the past.
I just took her hair off and she was dressed right again with normal lashes. |

Hey,
I placed this in the previous prerelease thread but didnt get back to it fast enough to see the answer but please bear with me and Ill post it again.
I have 401.6 and when I installed the app I found out that at least the application executable was placed in C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\Application Data\IMVUClient. It used to be placed in C:\Program Files\IMVU. I liked the old placement much better and it made much more sense. Also all my shortcuts are now broken
Was there a reason for the change? Or perhaps the install didnt go correctly for me and I need to reinstall?
Thanks for any enlightenment on this subject
