Since it has come up several times recently and it is not available on the developers page I figured what the heck and jumped into Max and grabbed the UV map for it.

So for all who need it here it is...

*insert drum roll here*

The IMVU eye in all its UV loveliness...

tisk tisk, look at all those wasted pixels. *le sigh*

This size is 256x256 which is huge for the size the IMVU eye will render. Half this size 128x128 is fine for the final texture unless your eye has super detail, but even then most folks wont see the difference when rendered unless fully zoomed in on the eye.

Remember youÂ’re the artist here, play with the size of the iris and pupil to your liking, there are no rules so have fun with it!

ZOMBIE THRED EATS YOUR BRAIN! *GRHWAAAHHHW*

Though to be honest, i didn't see this the first time it came up, so maybe it needed to be lifted from the grave for a little bit.

In regards to not understanding: This is a 3D UV map. This means that the lines you see are the edges of the eyes. Some developers like this kind of template to see where they can paint and where they can't. For example, everything outside that outer ring is invisible, meaning no matter what you draw on there, nobody can see it because it is out of the "mapping area". It's just a different way to view your templates.

Hey thanx for this thread. Razz
Is there any way to make the two eyes different, or does one texture apply to both eyes ? Question
Or are there any ways of covering one eye with another texture, say like a tattoo works ? Idea
Thanx for any response.

For me, the iris of the standard IMVU eye, and any other eyes that are patterned on it, are all just a bit too small for Head 3. The upshot is that too much of the whites show, depending on which way the avi's eyes are directed at that moment. Looks really unnatural sometimes.

The "dainty" version of Head 3, btw, works exactly the same in this regard as the normal version.

The only eyes that I'm reasonably happy with for Head 3 are the Noscere eyes by Holydust. The irises on those are just a bit larger than usual.

Even with those, there are a few expressions in which the white part of the eyeball actually clips through the eyelid. So I have to put on a different head if I want to use a pose with that expression.

No such thing as a zombie thread in CC land if the info is still valid and useful. Wink

Maybe some day IMVU will make the eye template available, then folks wouldn't need this thread... so until that day I'll keep hosting the template for folks to use so bump away! lol.

I was curious. Has anyone here tried to make odd eyes? Odd as in 2 completely different colored eyes. Ive been looking around, but can't find any info on how to do this. I'm trying to make it so my avatar has one red eye and one light blue/white eye (red on their right side and white on the left)..

Any ideas or help would be awesome!

you don't delete the template, you paint over it, like you're painting in a colouring book. you put the template in a background layer, if you can use layers, paint in a layer that's slightly transparent, bump it to opaque, and the lines are gone.

now that you got me this far Keef, please someone tell me how you all get that glassy effect that just makes the eyes realistic.

Lol, wow. How did you ever manage to find this thread? XD
I thought they did a cleansweep of all the older threads.

I've also used the IMVU's eye template that I saw in the folders for the female weighting file to help align my own :3
