Sam that looks much better now, yes If you just remember that darker, more muted colours are less painful than light/bright ones you'll do great
DD thank you for sharing that with us & yups Vis really has perfected the art of the animated icon
I like your icon too & agree that in small doses & done with care & dare I say 'taste' they can be a very useful marketing tool
You also might find the phase/fade aspect useful tho' as your pics jump..it's not that big a deal, I've just found that the ones that phase/fade from one pic to the next are the least painful is all. Try it for yourself & see how you find it as you're able to judge for yourself _________________
Those icons are okay, smooth movements and not too fast.
But if the icons get too flashy, rapid changes and diff pics every time.. then I serioulsy have to squint my eyes and I close that page as fast as I can. _________________
there's not an option i'd feel comfortable choosing in the poll, so here goes...
so.. animation is sometimes necessary, but usually not. if you use fast, bright-colored, animated icons that are cluttered with random frames, it's very likely i haven't bought any of your products.
if you use animated icons in an original way (fast, bright, cluttered is not original) or when really necessary (rooms/furniture/animated poses), i might have something of yours in my overgrown wishlist.
i really can't understand why people use animation for:
adding a frame with a slogan or logo (come on, show me the product, you're not selling your logo, are you?)
eyes, hair, accessories, footwear, skins, heads, etc (look to previous paragraph for exceptions; oh, this doesn't also apply if you do original subtle animation a la elixir) _________________
As this is a health and safety concern, I think this is a very important issue that has been brought up. I'll give you feedback from both a customer's and creator's point of view. This is just my personal opinion, coming from someone who doesn't have any problems with getting migraines or having seizures from these types of icons.
As a creator, I find them quite useful for showing "more" of the product. The majority of my catalog has flashing icons that alternate between a logo and the product. I started using these as "attention grabbers." When I switched to these icons, my sales dramatically increasd, so they served their purpose. These icons are set to show one picture per second. However, although looking at one of these may not be obnoxious, looking at an entire page of flashing Goldilocks is obnoxious. I don't know if they're damaging health-wise, but they are obnoxious. It's also the most obnoxious commercials that get our attention, too, right? LOL Anyway, I felt that I have enough of an established customer base now, so I recently switched to a less obnoxious icon I still use animated icons and intend to continue to use them, but I think the new ones are much less obnoxious than the old ones (they no longer switch between logo & product).
As a customer, I actually prefer the animated icons, so long as they're not too fast. When I can see "more" of the product in the icon, I'm more likely to click on it and check it out. However, if it's too fast, I can't get a good view of the product anyway, so it defeats the purpose of having an animated icon. _________________

I just like to see the product so an good shot is all I need to be interested in looking at the product page.... and I like good shots of the product and it's poses there, not a bunch of distracting graphics.
When looking at the catty, I find I tend to focus on the static pics, avoiding the flashing ones. Ones with several frames, including logo are especially annoying.
Haven't had a seizure yet but hey, had near everything else as penance here. Sorry to the flashers, just an honest blurb about how my brain works when I surf the cat. Getting a good poll going is a good idea as it will help people decide what people are drawn to and what they avoid.. helpful for sales. _________________

I have to say this is and was very interesting to read , where Icons flashing is concerned.. it is eye catching in many ways for one thing it helps with sales .. Because It has to do with health and to be honest I have 10 flashing icons in my catalog and I will change them this very week ..because I really don't want anyone to fall down and die from my icon ..I can't be held responsible for such causes lol ..
Anyways back to the health stuff ... I think everyone should take part in this because sooner or later it might be a major issue in the long run..
Besides that we need to treat it like how we treat other health problems such as for example Breast cancer ..just like how we all stand up for change and finding a cure so should we stand up and try to at least help the persons having problems with the flash animations .. thank you ..Barbie _________________
