I think in some cases, people just might not know how to slower down the frame rates, and in others... people might just think that fast and flashy equals better.

Well, not wanting to go OT... so I am straining to keep this within the original theme here.... I have never heard of ANY animation program that does not have a setting for frame rates... which is what makes the animation go slow or fast. On mine (not sure about anyone else's) if you set the rate low.... it moves slow... if I set it high, the animation shoots off like a raging cannon ball.

I have Jasc Animation shop its an oldie but a goodie, with this i can change the animations to anything i want, all the frame rates goes up in stages. For example mega slow through to full blow tornado. I dont know about other programs though.

If you use photoshop cs3 you can set the rate of each frame to whatever you want .they added animation features, and it's easy and simple to use .

Exactly. I have never heard of any animation program that made anyone set their animations at eyeball searing Warp 9 speed.

back onto the question Smile

I do have a couple of animated icons and I must say I do not mind them at all providing the transition is tasteful and not painful..fast flashing - NO, slow flash like 2 second delay - yes, slow fade transition? absolutely....

I would hate to see them removed, would love to see them evolve better Smile

I know :/

hasn't that always been the problem .. it seems like 'policy' needs to be implemented before the community will consider change.. would be nice if it didn't have to go there Smile

I hate them. Fullstop. Why? Becasue too many devs become lazy and use them as a generic "this is MINE" icon instead of using them to show a thumbnail of the product in question; there's nothing worse then looking at peoples catalogue pages and finding I'm basically staring at 30 boxes running the exact same animated icon in each that have *nothing* to do with the blinking products! grrrrr.

They don't help pear review either, I want to know *immedately* what it is I'm about to see and as the icon loads first and is right at the top of the page I expect that whatever I see there to be what the product is which for 90% of the time isn't the case and it wastes time as a result

true devs whose icons are all animated and flashy, when you look at their catalog its very dizzying.. and specially icons with bright colors and animated they hurt my eyes, specially after long hours in front of the computer, like my job requires me to be on the computer for 8 hours, and then you look at those animated flashy icons, Sad

Truth be told, I'm not good at animated stuff. I did one sticker of my logo with FAN fading in and out, but it might be a bit fast now that I look at it. Not sure about it though. If I put it back on my page, could someone take a look and let me know?

Edit: I put that sticker up on my hp. I'm only leaving it up for a bit. I also did some for icons for bundles, but eh, I'm going to redo those as they are fast enough they might do some harm!
