This is the first time that anyone has given me an answer rather than referring me to a tutorial!! It is SO helpful!! Thanks so much!!

To put it into perspective, if you set up the view properties as suggested in the first post, it is 1200 units from the floor to the middle of an avatar forehead. If you use the basic blender grid, it is 120,000 units. Also, if you do not set up the view properties, you will not be able to see your entire mesh in Blender. |

| Well I downloaded that version of blender though I'm having trouble getting the python 2.45 downloaded for it to run. Two types of files and all I see is blank page instead of the zip. I guess it's one of those days......wait nvm. I had to look in youtube. |

| I know that is better for everyone, but I feel like doing a different version, I don't know where the tool is to unwrap after cutting the seams. I just hit U and it undo instead of the UV Calculation. |

To get to the unwrap in version 2.45 you have to go to object mode, then hit F for UV face select, then U for the unwrap options. The U command in edit mode is for version 2.49. In 2.45 it is for undo. _________________

It was I who linked you to the tutorial. I linked you to the image that shows the scale settings that you need to use to get things about the right size in IMVU. _________________

This is me every time I work with blender... but when it finally works it's worth every moment of sheer frustration |
Finally Works?!?!?!?! It doesnt work now what makes me think it is gunna finnaly work. it either goes in as a invisible mesh where teh avtaar sits udnerneath the floor boards, or it as a big as a shoebox |
I've been working with Blender for a couple of weeks now and found that you have to work at it; it is not a program you can just jump into. It is not intuitive. You have to study and work and practice. If you want to be able to just go in and immediately start making products, well......it's not going to happen. I am making some neat stuff, and my only problem so far is getting it exported into a format that IMVU understands.
If anyone can help with that, I'd be very grateful!! |

I have been watching your posts about not being able to find the exporter. Go to the first post (the tutorial). Go to the bottom (end) of the tutorial. There is a picture of a female avatar standing next to a cube. The picture above that one is what it looks like when you are selecting the exporter. The proper exporter is hi-lighted in grey. If you are using 2.45, that is what it will look like. Do not pay attention to the cal 3d exporter just under the hi-lighted one. _________________

Thanks so much for trying to help. Im not at home right now so I can try this, but as soon as I get home, I will.
I looked at the tutorial and I dont remember seeing that exporter where the pic shows it is, but I'll check again.
If it is not there, is there anyway to get the script and add it??
Thanks.

There is a different exporter available. The link to it is somewhere in the Blender Creator Group Sticky threads. _________________

Off from IMVUN for the summer but have been concentrating on learning Blender.
However, I'm now using Blender 2.6. How can you export into IMVU using 2.6???
Also, at times I will add a texture to a face and it will show up on the OPPOSITE side of the face. What causes this?? |

Try to append or link into 2.45 or 2.46 or try to open the file with one of them. If you did not change the properties, the model will be very tiny.
Your normal needs to be flipped to get the texture on the other side. Textures apply to the side of a face the normal is facing. _________________
