Credits can be confusing and frustrating for new and even for long time users. Get the FAQs right here.
Q: What is a Predit or a Promo Credit?
Predits and Promo Credits are the exact same thing. They are ‘free’ to you money that IMVU gives you or allows you to earn.
Q: How can I use my Predits?
Almost anything you can use a regular credit for, you can use a Predit as well, so buying clothes, hair, shoes, rooms and furniture are all allowed. YAY! There are some limitations, though. You may not use a Predit to buy a gift for a friend. You may not transfer Predits between one person or another. You may not use Predits to purchase shoutouts.
Q: “I’m out of Predits! What do I do now?”
You can earn or win predits through IMVU (see below). You can purchase, earn or win credits though some of the ways listed below.
Q: How do I purchase Credits?
You can purchase credits with a credit card, pay pal or various other methods.
You can check out the User Sponsored Contest forum. That’s correct, users just like you sponsor contests for fun! Many of them have really excellent prizes including credits, gifts and other cool stuff!
A credit reseller is someone (usually a dev or a group of devs) that sells their credits directly to you and keeps the prices much lower than IMVU. Because you are purchasing credits directly from the developers (devs), they cost less money. Yes, you may use the forums to ask other people who they recommend for purchasing credits. You CAN NOT bash a reseller in the forum if you have had issues with them. You may state that you have had an issue with so and so’s credit purchases.
Q: Are credit resellers sponsored by IMVU?
No, they are not. Many have been involved with IMVU for a number of years and have a good professional relationship with IMVU staff.
The oldest still active resellers are:
Cassiopeia. She sells with a group of top devs and has been involved in IMVU since 2004.
Jinx has been a member and reseller since 2004.
TNT. She’s been here since mid 2005 but has been selling credits under one of her Dev accounts since 2004.
Q: Help! I purchased credits from IMVU and never received them?!?
Ok, first of check your transaction record with your bank or whomever. If it was good on their end it’s time to fill out a help ticket.
Q: Help! I purchased credits from a reseller and never received them?
The repuatable resellers have information on their sites directing you how to handle a credit issue. But always confirm that your purchase went through, so check your records first!
Q: Help! Things are sooo expensive and I want to change the look of my Avie!
KittenKat decided to put together a special link, IMVU Deals, for low cost goods. Many of the top devs are listed and there are some amazing deals. NOTHING is marked up over 1 credit, so the devs are not making profit on this stuff at all.
Q: I thought you said nothing was marked up over 1 credit, the prices are still high! Why?!?
The price of an item includes a few things: IMVU taxes, IMVU’s cut (different than the taxes) and if it is derived from something else, the dev has to pay the dev that originally made it.
As of late, we've been hearing reports of people having problem with some people claiming to be "resellers" who are really just attempting to defraud you (or us, or both) of money.
We're already working to do our best to prevent these people from doing any more harm to you or us, but these things take time, so we're now publishing a list of known fraudulent "resellers" here, and we'll do our best to update it regularly. Please refer people here if they are wondering if a particular reseller is nefarious or not. Also note this is NOT a complete list, nor should it be seen as such.
The following "resellers" are known to be fraudulent, and you should NOT use them to buy or sell credits from:

Hello all -
I wanted to make sure anyone who's been watching this thread see's the latest post we've made on this topic:
In response to the numerous requests we’ve received asking for new ways to get credits, IMVU has partnered with a company called SpotWinner. Together, we’ve developed IMVU TV which allows those who choose to participate the ability to view ads every day, correctly answer a question on what you saw, and be entered into a daily lucky draw! You can earn one entry into the lucky draw for each correct answer to every ad you watch (ads are updated daily).
SpotWinner will automatically distribute the winning credits (not promo credits) directly into your credit balance. In all, 50,000 credits will be given away every day, with a 25,000 credit grand prize and numerous smaller prizes. Everyone will be able to see who won the previous day’s lucky draw here. Users can see their account balance history (including any winnings) at any time by clicking on the "View Credits Balance Log" in the Account Settings and Tools page here.
Many of the advertisements are funny and entertaining, and should adhere to our age-appropriate guidelines.
We look forward to hearing your feedback.
Best,

In response to the continual requests for new ways to “earn” IMVU Credits, we’ve recently started working with a new partner to provide a broad range of Credit-earning opportunities that range from being rewarded for making purchases you are already likely to make, trying new services, or completing a survey.
You can learn more here.
There are hundreds of activities that users in the United States can choose to participate in, and dozens of choices for users in the UK, Canada, and Australia as well.
IMVU Credits (not predits) will be deposited directly into your account once the required steps are completed; this can take two or more days to appear, so please be patient. Please do not email IMVU or the external partners to check on your status. Instead, use the green Offer Status button located at the top right of the partner offer page. We recommend that you keep copies of any correspondence between you and any 3rd party as proof of completion of the process.
Please read all offer details closely. Most offers will take you to a website off of IMVU; these websites are not managed by IMVU, so please read the privacy policies on each site carefully as they may differ from IMVU’s Privacy Policy. Please do not participate in offers or activities that you are not qualified for. Intentionally misleading the advertisers in order to earn Credits may result in your IMVU account to be terminated.
Since we started offering this new way for users to earn IMVU Credits just over a week ago, tens of thousands of Credits have been distributed quickly and securely.
You can dive right in and start earning Credits now by clicking here.
