Hey there, I made a sticker and transparent avatar-making tutorial for GIMP that is in .XCF format so it opens up with GIMP. It's pretty simple, but it's quick and straightforward, so it's good for beginners. It's available for download (about 5MB) at the following link:

IrfanView
http://www.irfanview.com/
It's freeware, and allows you to convert resize and lots more on the fly
Additionally it can do batch conversion and resize if you have a lot of images

I Use paint.NET, and sometimes GIMP 2
I use paint.NET for animations, i trhink its easier
srry no dev sticker turtorials.... 
Haha i wishes i knew alot of things, that theres diffent types of files like png gif and jpg, yea i kinda messed up on the first products..haha |

Can u browse pictures on photobucket and alter them to make a sticker?? From my understanding as long as the DEV has a good faith feeling that it is not a copyright image... I see tonz of stickers on Avi pages that I have seen on Photobucket as images is this in violation??

I don't personally see why they would be, unless they are copyright or trademark protected. If they are in the public domain we should be able to use them freely
Here's a little info on the public domain - it should help a little.
"an author's copyright in a work begins when it is fixed in a tangible form; neither publication nor registration is required, and a lack of a copyright notice does not place the work into the public domain," -wikipedia-
However keep in mind that in order to make a public domain image yours you must alter it noticeably - then the altered image becomes copyrighted to you.
According to US law an image goes into the public domain either if it was created before 1923 or earlier if the creator voluntarily puts it there.
((and I'm too lazy to look up other countries laws))

Though there is a mid ground between public domain and copyright in which the creator makes the image available to be copied and shared freely but restricts it from being altered in anyway or used to obtain a profit by anyone other than by themselves or anyone they have granted a license to use the image to.
So in other words, Ricalatina, if you can prove that the image is in the public domain (old enough and not altered from its original form, or placed into the public domain voluntarily) the law says you can use it.
oh and, Floweraater, I can't download that tutorial - my computer says that it can't recognize the source. And, yes, I do have the GIMP (version 2.215). Thanks. |

Note:
Being in Photobucket or posted anywhere on the Net does NOT Constitute being Public Domain. To be in Public domain a few things applies:
1) The Copyrighted Item has been around 75 yrs with no claims to the copyright during that time frame.
2) The original artist has declared it Public Domain.
Chances are, if you find it on Photobucket, it was swiped from another site without permission.
Though if anyone needs help with Poser or Daz Studio, they can feel free to drop me a PM.

I would appreciate any help I cant get. I recently made a sticker and it was working when I created it but when it passed peer review and was updated to the catalog and someone bought it it all of a sudden didnt work.

| hey! im having trouble with animated gifs...i made a movie of my avatar dancing in avi format and converted it to gif and made the background transparent. the problem is you can see all of the layers through the transparency while its animating. does anyone know how to fix it? thanks. |
