IMVU are looking into bringing back the big chat rooms that they used to have & that's currently in development as we speak.
But what my friends & I do when we're together is move the cam back away from the people & we all sit spaced out rather than on top of each other & that helps a lot. Not ideal I know, but it's only a tide you over until the proper group rooms come back. _________________

To lazy??? COME ON! This sounds like a really good idea and I think they should put some effort into this one. It would help on lag and bigs groups. Would make people want to talk more too. |
not too lazy..... too much money. _________________

Stray it's quite easy to script ONE page, but there are how many pages on this site & somewhere in the region of 7 million users....that's a LOT of coding to do.
They need a team of staff dedicated to coding & they just don't have that right now _________________

first off .... you will not get rid of over lapping bubbles as the room size is just to small....and doing bou`s idea of zooming out a mile is a pain as you can`t see people..or actions...
second its not imvu being lazy its the cost of doing it...to recode a whole chat program they would have to shut off imvu while they do it losing them money and losing people to other chat programs
third....the lag....the lag is 75% the last few "updates" and 25% the number of people useing imvu at times..weekends you have 10 minute lags on shoes...where early am usa time it takes 20 seconds in week days...so to really fix it they need to recode the new update to remove what is eating cpu power and get more servers to handle the heavy times on here _________________

Not Only do i still think they need to find a way to make the group chats better in which there are fine now but just a Pain when it gets big...but also upgrade on the servers..this Lag issues is getting to get on my Nerves badly honestly i haven't been on the Chat for about a good 2 weeks cause i dont want to deal with the Loading or to stare at the Black screen to talk to one person......so honestly i'm sure there losein Money on that lag issue and i do think its getting worse as IMVU is getting bigger.... _________________

Actually the chat bubbles are unique and yes, that's what sets IMVU apart from the other chat clients.
But with that being said, Devinoch posted something a while back about implementing a chat box as well. It was in the early see-what-the-chatters-think-about-it stage. |

There are improvements and there will be improvements. Just be patient. Nothing can be done immediately.
Previously the chat bubbles were all in a single colour (white). Suggestions for it to have different colours to differentiate each chatter came and they made it happen.
No two chat client can ever be so similar, each has their own supporters.
Anyway, as for the lag, it has nothing to do with the text or bubbles. The more chatters appear, the worse the lag will be. That is simply due to the amount of items in the room, or the amount of items worn by each chatter. So if the room is full of furniture or everyone has wings, shows off their pets or huge items, it WILL lag. And the lag is due mainly to the speed of your internet connection, and your graphic card.
Try adjusting the options in the chat client to see which works best for you. Some may have better results using Accelerated graphics on Direct3D or OpenGL, and change the target frame rate to suit your PC too. It can help, but it still depends on your connection speed and your graphic card. _________________

I'd just like to point out the zooming out will not help organize the bubbles as they stay the same size regardless of how far away the camera is. Give it a few seconds or minutes and the bubbles with allign themselves automatically. As long as you do not move the screen again they will remain in those neat lines.
If there are too many people in the chat and the bubbles start overlapping too much, widen the screen, as that leaves more room for the bubbles to space out. Do not make the screen taller as that will make everything bigger and will clutter the bubbles even more. |
